"Solomon" came to us on October 31, 2018 from Juniper as a stray who had been hanging around a home for about five days.  He constantly meowed outside the door, asking for help.

Solomon was born about October 31, 2015 and had never been neutered.  He was dehydrated, had severe fleas, severe conjunctivitis and his third eyelids were prolapsed.  He displayed old mild ulcers in each cornea and had entropion in both eyes - that means his eyelashes were curved inward rather than outward, so they scratched his eyes each time he blinked.  Solomon underwent surgery to repair this and has done very well since.  He appears to have absolutely no trouble at all with his eyes, thanks to the skills of his new vet friend at Florenceville Veterinary Clinic!

Despite his obvious pain and discomfort on his arrival, Solomon purred and showed his affection for humans.  He was given intravenous fluids, his eyes were medicated and he has been neutered as well.  He's doing extremely well, this handsome tomcat - he's a keeper!  He is very loving and affectionate and very obviously was aware that he is receiving help.  He's a very lucky boy!  The only other thing he could ever wish for would be a permanent family, so . . .

. . . on December 28, 2018, a young DunRoamin' volunteer made that wish come true when she chose him as her new best friend.  Solomon now lives in Carlow where he'll be loved beyond his wildest dreams - he's already in heaven just thinking about it!  Congratulations, Solomon.  Merry Christmas to you and your new family.  Send lots of photos, and we'll hear about you from our volunteer every week! 

"Trident" came to us along with his brothers Wrigley, Mentos and sister Chiclet, on September 3, 2018, from the Florenceville area where they had been found in a box on the side of the Centreville Road.  Although they were all healthy and did not fall under our mandate of sick/injured, etc, they were accepted so the threat of being thrown off the Florenceville bridge into the river did not become a reality.

Trident was born about July 23, 2018 and is 100% ready for a permanent home.  He thanks his friend Kathy for fostering his family to make sure they received the love, attention and socialization required for them to become loving family members for the lucky people who will eventually choose them.  They are cuddle kiddens who love laps, shoulders and chests to sleep on - they come running if you sit or lay down!  And they love to look you in the eye and talk!

On December 25, 2018, Trident was ecstatic to learn that his first Christmas was one he would remember forever!  He and his two siblings, Chickley and Wrigley (see below), were all chosen as the newest family members of a very nice family in Fredericton.  They couldn't choose one from such a wonderful group and didn't want to separate them!  They are now the new friends of a nice young man on whose bed they sleep each night.  We are all so grateful that they got to stay together in such a wonderful home.  Merry Christmas!  Stay in touch!!  We'll all miss your cuteness!

Wrigley was born about July 23, 2018 and is ready for a permanent home (neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for all parasites).  He thanks his friend Kathy for fostering his family to make sure they received the love, attention and socialization required for them to become loving family members for the lucky people who will eventually choose them.  Wrigley is an independent little guy, but likes to snuggle with his sister Chiclet, too.  They love to curl up in a little furball on your lap or chest and purr themselves to sleep.  They are ADORABLE!

On December 26, 2018, his dream came true when he and his siblings, Chiclet and Trident (see above and below), were all chosen by a young boy in Fredericton who is looking forward to growing up with his three new best friends.  They are fortunate to join this family, fortunate to stay together and fortunate to have such a memorable first Christmas together.  Thanks to your family for giving them all the best Christmas present EVER!!  Merry Christmas!

Chiclet was born about July 23, 2018 and was soon ready for a permanent home (spayed, tested for FIV and FeLV, vaccinated and treated for all parasites).  She thanks her friend Kathy for fostering her family to make sure they received the love, attention and socialization required for them to become loving family members for the lucky people who will eventually choose them.  Chiclet loves to curl up together with her siblings, but she and Wrigley are the most bonded.  All of them love to curl up on a lap, chest or bed together and purr everyone to sleep!  And they will look you in the eye and yell at you to get your attention!  So CUTE!

On December 26, 2018, Chiclet was so very happy to receive the first (and BEST) Christmas present of her life when she and her two brothers, Wrigley and Trident (see above), were all chosen by a young family in Fredericton as their newest members.  They are SO grateful for their new young friend on whose bed they get to sleep each night and they're looking forward to their new world.  Congratulations to everyone.  Thanks to their new family for keeping them together!  Merry Christmas!!

 

"Micah" came to us on August 24, 2018 from Mazerolle Settlement where she had been found in a barn.  She had a previously-broken leg, perhaps from being stepped on and her joint was dislocated to the point that her foot was on backwards and she was actually walking on the top of it!  That must have been very painful.  Micah was born about June 24, 2018.

Micah was sedated and her foot was repaired by her best new vet friend.   She may have some scar tissue, but we're hoping for the very best and she's already on her way to just that!  She is extremely cute, playful, cuddly and lovable.  She tested slightly positive for FIV, but she'll be retested shortly after Christmas and we're thinking she will test negative then.  It'll be a short time before she'll be ready to leave vet care, but she looks forward to a permanent home of her very own.  She's really never had that!  She's grateful for the love of her foster home!

On December 25, 2018, Micah learned that she would not ever be leaving her foster home!  She was adopted by her foster family and she'll live happily here ever after!  We're not sure who's happier- Micah or her young friend who has fallen so much in love with her!  It was a wonderful Christmas surprise for both of them!  Merry Christmas, Baby Shark!  Merry Christmas, Kyla!  Thanks for loving this little one!

"Esau" came to us on December 1, 2018 from Beechwood.  No one was willing or able to help him.  He was a very nice little boy who had experienced too little love and care in his life.  He had a head tilt and had surgery to remove a polyp and is now much better, although his head still tilts a little!  He's super affectionate and loves people. Esau was born about December 1, 2017. He will require monitoring of his ear to ensure the polyp does not return.

Esau is currently on some medication to ensure his ear is the best it can possibly be, but he's hoping he won't need any medication at all in the near future.  He'll be monitored to ensure he has the very best of care.

On December 24, 2018, Esau was adopted by a young lady who lives in Fredericton.  She met him and that was that!  Instant LOVE!  Esau spent his first night in his new home in complete and utter glory  - he couldn't have dreamed life could be this good!  Congratulations, Esau!  And congratulations to your new family.  Merry Christmas!!

"Winston" came to us on October 27, 2018 from Muniac where he had been found all alone under a car.  No mom or siblings were located and no one was able to take him in.  Winston was born about September 18, 2018 so was only about five weeks old.  What baby could possibly make it on his own in this cold weather? 

Winston was fostered by a vet tech to ensure he got the socialization he required and deserved and he's turned into a REAL sweetheart (of course!)  He's well on his way to being excited about his very first Christmas and is anxious to start his new life with a family who will love him forever.  By the way, he likes dogs, too!  And Christmas trees!  And toys!  And EVERYTHING!!!

On December 22, 2018, Winston was adopted by a young couple in Somerville where he'll have the best life ever.  He's super excited about his very first Christmas - we're guessing he's going to be spoiled rotten!  Have fun, Winston!  Merry Christmas!!

"Scott" and his sister Tayla (see below) were found on the road in Hartland on the afternoon of June 9, 2018 and were brought to DunRoamin' for help.  Examination by their new vet revealed that they had been born about April 16, 2018.

Scott and Tayla weighed only 14 ounces upon their arrival.  They were hungry but too scared to eat.  They were fed by syringe every few hours throughout the next two days and nights until they finally became comfortable enough to eat some Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR) on their own.  They also had to be stimulated to pee and poop every few hours, as their mother would have done for them had she been with them.

Scott and Tayla were fostered by a vet tech to ensure they got the medical care they required while they acclimatized to their new environment and learned to eat, pee and poop appropriately.  They were the exact same weight and are very similar in appearance, with Scott having a slight tan tint to the fur on his face.  They'd like to stay together if at all possible - they're the only family each other has right now until that perfect new family asks them to join theirs.  They can't wait!

On December 19, 2018, Scott got the best news of his young life.  Both he and his sister Tayla were invited to join a family in Woodstock where they'll be loved beyond words by their two new adult humans and two young children who love them already!  As an added bonus, their new sister is DunRoamin's Arizona - a very beautiful girl!  Congratulations to everyone!  Merry Christmas!!  Thanks to your new family for keeping you both together!

"Trez" came to us on July 13, 2018 from Riverbank.  He had been left in a kennel sometime during the previous night outside the door of the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  Trez had long nails, ear mites, was not neutered and was terrified.

Trez was immediately brought inside and cared for.  He was neutered, treated for parasites, and his vaccine protocol was begun.  He was very scared at first, but he came around quickly, once he realized that he was safe and would be cared for forever.  It is estimated that he was born about January 15, 2016.

On December 15, 2018, Trez got some wonderful holiday news.  He was chosen as the new best friend of a nice lady from Hartland where he'll now live happily ever after.  Congratulations, Trez!  You got your Christmas wish!  Merry Christmas to you and your new family!  Write soon!

On December 15, 2018, Mentos was elated to learn that his first Christmas present would be a permanent home in Campbell Settlement!  And he'll have a feline friend almost his own age to run, play and cuddle with!  Congratulations, Mentos!  We'll be looking forward to lots of photos as you grow.  Merry Christmas!!

"Daniel" came to us on November 5, 2018, from Nackawic.  He was a stray who had come to a home for help but no one was able to undergo the expense or recovery for his medical problem.  He was born about November 5, 2017, so was only about a year old and way too young to have to deal with such trauma.  He needed help.

Daniel was immediately examined by his new best vet friend and it was learned that he had a wound on his right cheek and his left eyeball was ruptured which required it to be removed.  Daniel was also not yet neutered.  He had obviously been trying to survive on his own, became injured and was unable to care for himself all alone in the great outdoors.  Who could be expected to do that, especially at so young an age and all alone?

Daniel underwent surgery to remove his eye, was neutered and his vaccinations were completed.  He is a very friendly and loving cat who wants nothing more than to snuggle up and be someone's constant companion.  He loves to be around people, loves to cuddle and loves to purr. 

On December 15, 2018, a young lady drove all the way from Saint John to meet this little boy, and they fell in love with each other.  Daniel now lives happily with his new mom where he'll be spoiled beyond his wildest dreams.  Congratulations, Daniel, we're SO  happy for your!  Merry Christmas to you and your family!  Please don't forget to send photos and updates - we'll miss you!

"Monk" came to us from Greenfield on November 21, 2018 where he had obviously belonged to someone since he has such a wonderful and sweet personality.  No one was able or willing to help him and his only other option was not a good or safe one for him.  He had tapeworms and was still intact.

Monk was born about November 23, 2016.  He is exceptionally friendly and loving.   He has been neutered, tested for FIV and FeLV, vaccinated and is hoping for a new home for Christmas.  He loves all people, especially kids and will follow them around hoping for some attention!

On December 12, 2018, Monk was adopted by a very nice family from Coldstream where he will be a new friend for a young boy who has been very anxious for him to join their family.  Congratulations, Monk!  Merry Christmas!  Send lots of photos!!

"Seeley" came to us on December 1, 2018 from Bristol, NB where he was found near Crabbe's Lumber yard.  A kind young gentleman noticed his left front leg required medical help and brought him immediately.  Seeley was born about August 30, 2018 so was only about three months old.  He was dirty, hungry, tired, cold and scared, but he's going to be okay now, because he's DunRoamin'!

Seeley's left front leg was necrotic - the tissue was dead.  He may have sustained an injury which had become infected and since there was no one to help him it progressed to this terrible degree.  Seeley's leg had to be amputated at the shoulder, but he's doing very well. 

Seeley is warm, safe, loved and shows his gratitude and contentment with head butts and purrs.  He is starting to learn to play and is well socialized by his new vet friend who makes sure he keeps her company while she's writing her notes.   Thanks for that!  Seeley is doing exceptionally well with three legs and can get around with the best of them! 

On December 12, 2018, Seeley met a couple from Lake George who had read his story, seen his photo and had been deeply touched.  They knew he was the perfect kitten to join their family of two dogs and four cats, three of whom are DunRoamin'.  Hi, Bruce Springsteen (Curtis), Archie Andrews (Clifford) and Jughead Jones (Acer)!  Merry Christmas to you all!  Congratulations, Seeley!  You've got it made now!

"Pampurr" came to us on July 3, 2018 from Marne, NB.  He had been found all alone in a driveway on Canada Day and still had his umbilical cord attached.  He was fostered by a very nice lady who has fostered more than 100 cats and kittens for us.  Thanks, Karen!

Pampurr had to be fed by syringe and stimulated to pee and poop every couple of hours around the clock, which was no small task for his caregiver - she didn't get much sleep, but it's what he required as he had no mom to care for him.  He had some issues but has received the best of medical care and attention.   Pampurr was most probably born on July 1, 2018 and he's very fortunate to have his DunRoamin' friends to provide for him.  He was fostered by his friend at DunRoamin' and did well.  He was on several medications to ensure he has the very best start, but soon didn't need them any more.  He experienced some diarrhea but was eating well, purring loudly and playing endlessly.  He loves to stand on your feet, then climb up your leg!  He also likes chin rubs, head scratches and playing with your toes!

On December 7, 2018, Pampurr was adopted by a young lady from Marne, NB.  He now lives happily with her four new humans, including two children who will adore him forever!  Congratulations, Pampurr!  You made it!  Thanks to everyone who had a hand in saving the life of this beautiful kitten.  Write soon, Pampurr, and send lots of photos!  We'll miss you!

"Splash" came to us on August 19, 2018 from Woodstock where he was found standing on a rock in the Saint John River, screaming for help.  He was rescued and brought to DunRoamin' for help.  No other cats or kittens were located in the area.  He was soon warm, fed and safe.  He was born about June 27, 2018 and had a wound on his right front leg.  He was cold, hungry and skinny, but he's now in perfect health and perfect purrfection!

Splash is very cute, very affectionate and very energetic.  He is neutered, tested, fully vaccinated and ready for a permanent home.  If you want to meet the cutest kitten ever, he's your boy!

On December 6, 2018, Splash met a lady from Hartland who fell in love (who wouldn't??)  He now lives in Hartland with another cat and a cat-loving dog!  Congratulations, Splash!  Write soon!  Send pictures!!

"Fortune" came to us on the morning of October 12, 2018.  When our Stray Caretaker arrived at work, he found a tote and inside were Fortune, her mom Fame and siblings Hakuna and Matata.  They were cold, scared and covered in urine and feces - they had most probably been left there since early evening the night before (after we were closed) and it was a very cool night.  They were cleaned, warmed up, fed and were examined by a veterinarian to ensure their health.  They will now receive the care they require, including, and most importantly, spays and neuters.  They were born about July 12, 2018.

These kittens are the result of still more unspayed/unneutered pets.  Had Fame been spayed or had her kittens' father(s) been neutered, these kittens would not have added to the already-too-large-number of homeless pets for whom no one is able or willing to care.  Fortune is the 209th cat we have accepted so far this year.  Of this total, 124 sick/injured/abused/neglected cats and dogs arrived in the past 133 days.  With such a huge influx in such a small amount of time, our resources were at an all-time critical low.  If you'd like to help, please check out our Donate page or e-mail inquiries@dunroaminstrayandrescue.com.

On December 4, 2018, Fortune was adopted to a family in Newbridge who has a kitten her age.  She'll have a great time with her new friend.  Congratulations, Fortune!  Merry Christmas!  Don't forget to send us lots of photos!!

"Sephora" came to us on November 22, 2018 from Wakefield.  A cat who was assumed to have been her mom had been found dead on the road several days before and Sephora was all alone.  She was born about October 4, 2018.  She was scared to the point that she had to be live trapped by rescuers who heard her screaming for help outside their home.  She was very slim but relatively healthy - her mom had done a good job.

Sephora is booked for her spay, vaccines, parasite control and FIV/FeLV testing.  She's very playful and loving, and she weighs almost nothing!  She feels like she's made of feathers but her personality is made of sunshine!! She is SO happy to be warm, safe and loved.  Her personality radiates sunshine, gratitude and happiness!

On December 3, 2018, Sephora was adopted by a lady from Victoria Corner where she'll be loved beyond her wildest dreams!  Congratulations, Sephora!  We'll see you soon!  Send lots of photos and videos so we can watch you grow.  We'll miss all your little kitten antics!

Aslan" came to us on August 15, 2018 from Royalton, NB.  He was a stray who had been coming to a home for about two years, but this time they believed he had a sore paw.  Aslan was examined by his vet and found to have flea dermatitis, old fighting wounds all over his body and two broken and infected teeth.  He was neutered, tested for FIV and FeLV (results were negative) and his damaged and infected teeth were removed.  He had to be shaved due to the large amount of matted fur on his body and he had a tick under these mats which was immediately removed.  He was also prescribed pain medication, an anti-inflammatory medication and antibiotics to help treat his injuries.  He was born about August 15, 2013.

Aslan, although a bit nervous and unsure of his new surroundings at first, soon recognized the fact that he would now be okay.  He was treated for his problems and is now perfectly fine.  He readily accepts a head scratch and a warm pat and is looking forward to the potential of having his very own permanent home and family where he won't have to struggle and fight to survive.  He'll gladly repay his new family with love and affection each and every day.  He loves people and loves to head butt!  He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and is completely up to date on his vaccines.  He has a cauliflower ear which has been treated with ear drops, and he's doing just fine.  On October 12, 2018, he was welcomed into a foster home in Maplehurst where he was the best friend of two young children while he awaited a permanent home and family of his very own. 

On November 29, 2018, Aslan met a young couple from Upper Salmon Creek, NB and he fell in love, especially with his new dad!  He loves them both!  He'll be a new friend for their four dogs and will be spoiled rotten!  Congratulations, Aslan!  Thanks to your new family!  Send photos soon!  And often!

"Ponder" was born about July 1, 2018 and came to us on July 26 from the Cloverdale colony where she, her mom and three siblings were living.  There were about 70 cats on site and due to the fact that none was spayed or neutered, this colony was doomed to become larger which could easily mean potential illness, injuries, etc, to all due to less food and shelter to go around.  And of course there are always predators to watch out for!  It would be a huge miracle just to survive for these little guys.  Thankfully, a gentleman was caring for them, but he was very quickly becoming overwhelmed. He asked for help, and we couldn't refuse these little ones.

Ponder was fostered by two of our most wonderful foster parents - they've fostered well over 150!  Thanks to Bryan and Mandy.  They then moved in with another foster family - thanks, Katrina!  They (and we) are grateful for the love and care they have received in your home.

On November 28, 2018, Ponder and her brother Trance (see below) were adopted by a wonderful family in Salmon Creek.  They'll be the new best friends of their humans and friends for their 15-year-old cat.  Congratulations to all!  Don't forget to send pictures!!

"Gordo" came to us on May 6, 2018, from a colony of feral cats in Glassville who needed care and medical attention.  Several were sick or injured and several had already passed away.  All were treated for any medical requirements, spayed or neutered and returned to their colony.  As they are feral, they do not do well in homes.  Gordo was born about May 7, 2017 and is a sweetheart.  He has obviously been loved by people at some point in his life, but as a domesticated cat, it was not safe for him to attempt to survive as part of this feral colony.

Gordo is exceptionally friendly and loving.  He is a very social cat who pays strict attention to all humans - he might get a pat or an ear rub out of it, and he's ready at any and all opportunities!  He likes to talk and cannot wait to get his own permanent family where he'll have someone to talk to, play with and sleep on their bed at night - he makes a great back warmer! 

On November 26, 2018, a young lady from Tracey Mills decided that Gordo was the perfect guy for her. Now named Mokie, he lives happily with her and his new best friend Rosie, a beautiful and cat-loving standard poodle.  Please send lots of photos, Mokie.  We'll miss you!  Have a wonderful life!

"Burr," her sister Chapin (see below) and brothers Zephyr and Klein came to us on September 17, 2018 from Cloverdale where they were a part of a colony of approximately 70 cats who were breeding unchecked.  Having started from just two cats who had been dropped at this location, their numbers increased exponentially over a very short time.  There would soon be no food, little shelter and the harsh winter months would soon be upon them.  A gentleman asked for help with spaying and neutering them and finding them homes. 

Burr was born about May 17, 2018 and has been socialized by humans since birth, although she's a little more timid than her siblings.  The majority of her friends and family were feral, so were relocated to warm barns where they will live out their lives in much more safety and comfort. 

Burr was spayed, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for parasites.  She's been dreaming of her very own family for quite some time!  Due to her slight timidity (which she is overcoming quickly), she'd love it if her sister Chapin could go with her as they are inseparable - winding around each other and playing and sleeping together.

On November 24, 2018, Burr received wonderful news.  Not only was she going to have her own family with two young girls, her sister Chapin was going to go along with her!  They how live in Lansdowne.  Congratulations, Burr!  Send lots of photos and tell us all about your new life and family!

On November 24, 2018, Chapin received her wish when she and her sister Burr were adopted by a vry nice family in Landsdowne.  They will be the new best friend of two young girls who are already in love with them.  Congratulations, Chapin and Burr!  Send lots of photos!!

"Trapp" came to us from Beechwood on February 14, 2018 where he had been found in the dooryard of people who could not undertake his care.  He was born about February 14, 2016 and was not yet neutered.  His injuries consisted of abrasions, multiple cat bite wounds, a bruised hip, right testicle and anus, he had fleas and a bloody nose.  He also had abrasions on his right front side and his nails were torn as though he had tried frantically to use his claws to protect or release himself. 

We're not certain how he sustained his wounds, but it is possible that he had been attacked by another animal and/or had been trapped somewhere from which he tried desperately to escape.  Most seriously, he was also diagnosed with a broken bone in his back.  Trapp was unable to walk, so he pulled himself around with his front legs.  He was also unable to pee on his own, so he had to be expressed several times daily and took medication to help as well.  He was prescribed pain medication and antibiotics and underwent kennel rest for several weeks while he healed.   Trapp eats a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O to ensure urinary problems do not reoccur in the future.

As of a couple of months after his arrival, his whole world had changed!  He's very happy, purring and loves to be cuddled.   He is peeing on his own and he's even able to walk!  He loved his "physiotherapy" with his walkers and he loved everyone he met!  He made progress in leaps and bounds thanks to the care he received from his best new vet friend at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  Trapp was very fortunate to have been fostered with Ophelia, a well-loved DunRoamin' cat who has since left us.  We miss her dearly.  Thanks, Morgan and Alex, for giving them both a loving home.  They are very fortunate.

On November 24, 2018, we learned that Trapp's family cannot even consider not having him as part of their home and family.  He is extremely well loved and as a result was officially adopted on that date.  We're so grateful to his new family!  Thanks, Morgan and Alex, for everything!!  Congratulations, Trapp!  Keep sending photos and videos!

"Kristy" arrived at DunRoamin' on the morning of October 16, 2018 from the Oakland area.  She had a very severe injury to her left eye which had probably occurred at least a week before and she was in dire need of medical attention.  Her eye appeared to have sustained a puncture wound which had become badly infected and she also had a wound on her left ear.  She had obviously suffered before being rescued.  She weighed only 2.4 pounds and was born about July 7, 2018.

Kristy required her left eye to be removed as it was completely destroyed.  She was treated for worms, given intravenous fluids and medication to ease her pain.   She underwent surgery to remove her eye on the afternoon of October 16, 2018. 

Kristy felt SO much better once she was pain-free and healing so very well.  She is now happy, playful and affectionate and is hoping for a permanent home where she'll be safe, warm and loved.  No more of this outdoor stuff for her - it's not safe out there!!!

On November 20, 2018, Kristy was adopted into a home in Burton where she can't wait to experience the love of family.  She's more than earned it, is more than deserving of it and is more than excited to receive it!  Today is the first day of the rest of your life, Kristy!  Yahooooooo!  Thanks so much to your wonderful new family!

"Clinger" came back to us on May 5, 2018.  He originally had come to us on June 15, 2013 from Riverbank where he was abandoned at the door of the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic very late at night.  It was cold, windy and pouring rain all night - there was very little shelter available for him.  When he was found the next morning, he received his name - he just wanted to cling on for dear life!  He was born about December, 2010 and is a real sweetheart.

On September 10, 2013, Clinger was adopted by a couple in Lakeville, NB where he lived happily. Unfortunately, due to medical considerations within his family, they were not able to care for him any longer and he returned to us to find a new home.  Clinger must eat Hypo-allergenic food as he shows signs of some itchiness.  Clinger is a wonderful gentleman who misses the comforts of a human bed.  He is exceptionally cuddly and loves to be held, or to just sleep anywhere near a human body!  He was named well!

On November 18, 2018, Clinger was adopted by a lady in Jacksonville.  She had met him a few days previously, he worked his magic on her and she just HAD to come back and make him part of her family.  Congratulations, Clinger!  Don't forget to write!

"Elektra" came to us on October 17, 2018 from Woodstock where she had come to the home of a couple who could not help her.  She was very skinny, had a bilateral eye infection and was missing fur, perhaps due to stress.  She had obviously been on her own for a while and needed help.  She was born about October 18, 2017.

Elektra appears to have been someone's cat at some time as she is exceptionally friendly and loving.  She enjoys people and cuddling and is vocal when she wants attention - she's a lap cat!  She has been treated for her ailments, and will be spayed, vaccinated and tested for FIV and FeLV, in mid-November, as well as treated for all parasites.  Then, she just wants a family - she deserves that!! 

On November 12, 2018, Elektra met a family with whom she thought she'd like to spend the rest of her life.  It was love at first sight for all, and now she lives in Burton with the best home of which she could every dream.  Congratulations, Elektra!  What a wonderful early Christmas present!  Please send us lots of photos!

"Rumba" and her brother Samba (see above) came to us on September 6, 2018 from Plaster Rock.  When a caring supporter realized they needed help, she brought them to us and left a very generous donation to pay for their medical care.  Both had fleas, but Samba had a much more serious eye infection that needed help.  Because he did not reach medical attention in time, his eye had to be removed on September 7th.

Rumba was fortunate to not have such a serious medical issue. She had a bad upper respiratory infection which she beat with the help of medication and is now doing perfectly well.  She was a little more timid than her brother but was soon doing much better day by day, as she became more secure in her new environment.  We'd love for them to remain together.  They were born about July 6, 2018 and as far as we know, have never been separated. 

On November 11, 2018, Rumba and Samba were elated to leave for their new home together.  They cuddled into the arms of their new family and are ready to be Nova Scotians!!  They are excited to be the newest additions to a wonderful family in Beaverbank which also includes DunRoamin's Sampson!  Congratulations, everyone!!

"Mosley" came to us on August 31, 2018 from Temperance Vale.  She was born about August 28, 2008, so was about ten years old.  Her owner had to move into assisted living and Mosley had no other alternative and we just couldn't let anything bad happen to her.

Mosley had mild cataracts, gingivitis, chronic otitis, moderate tartar on her teeth and masses in both ears which may have required surgery to repair, but great medical care and ear and oral medications made it possible to avoid surgery and she's now perfectly healthy and fine.

Mosley was a bit shy in her new foster home since she'd never been away from her home her entire life, but she did better day by day.  She was an only pet, so she loved crawling into bed with a human and is a social eater.  She would love to have a senior citizen in her life again and may be fine to live with one other cat but she doesn't enjoy a large family of cats.  She does not seem disturbed by dogs at all.

On November 10, 2018, Mosley met a lady from Fredericton who had seen her on this website and fallen in love.  They got along just fine on the day they met and within 24 hours of being in her new home, Mosley pretty much owned it!  She's settled in to her permanent new life and is loving every second.  Thanks to her new mom for seeking her out and giving her such a wonderful life!  Please send lots of photos!

"Smooch" came to us from Gordonsville on August 27, 2018.  She had been found ten days earlier as a stray who had a torn and bloody lip.   Her wounds had not healed and her owners were unable to provide required medical care for her.  Smooch was born about March 27, 2018 and appeared to be comfortable with other cats, dogs and kids.

Smooch was diagnosed with trauma to her mouth and jaw, bleeding in her left ear and she was missing two baby teeth.  Her new vet friend replaced her chin and although she may have a slightly droopy lower lip from her injury, she is GORGEOUS!

Smooch was much more ill than she first displayed.  Tests showed that her blood was seriously out of whack and she required two blood transfusions from a dog - thanks, Wolf.  This puts her in excellent company with four other kittens who required this same assistance - Cardi, Chickadee, Ecole and Vera.

Smooch is undergoing care at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  It appears she's going to be just fine now, thanks to all the medical attention she received!  She'll be spayed, vaccinated and treated for all parasites, as are all DunRoamin' cats.  She tested negative for both FIV and FeLV.  She hopes for a home where she can live a safe indoor life.  She's already had enough excitement for a lifetime and she's barely even five months old! 

On November 6, 2018, Smooch was adopted by a young couple from Belleville.  She will be a friend for a bunny and dog, as well as her new humans who are head over heels in love with her!  She is very grateful to know she now has a permanent loving family!  Congratulations, Smooch!

"Wonder" was born about July 1, 2018 and came to us on July 26, 2018 from the Cloverdale colony where she, her mom and three siblings were living.  There were about 70 cats on site and due to the fact that none was spayed or neutered, this colony was doomed to become larger which would mean potential illness, injuries, etc, to all due to less food and shelter.  And of course there are always predators to watch out for!  It would be a huge miracle just to survive for these little guys.  Thankfully, a gentleman was caring for them, but he was very quickly becoming overwhelmed.   He asked for help, and we couldn't refuse these little ones.

Wonder was fostered by two of our most wonderful foster parents - they've fostered well over 150!  Thanks to Bryan and Mandy.  They they moved to another foster home.  Thanks, Katrina!! 

On November 6, 2018, Wonder was adopted to a family in Frederictron where she'll have a new feline friend.  Congratulations, Wonder.  Thanks again, Katrina!

"Brennan" came to us on August 31, 2018 from Johnville where he had been found in a potato barn along with two kittens.  The kittens had parasites and were not vaccinated, spayed or neutered.  Their rescuers ensured that those things would be taken care of for them, as they appeared healthy and did not fit our mandate..

Brennan, however, was a different story.  Born about November 31, 2017, he was only about nine months old and was very thin (only 6.25 pounds) and had lots of fleas - not comfortable at all!  But his main problem was his left hind leg.   X-rays revealed that his knee was dislocated which caused him pain.  It was also infected.  On October 17, 2018, Brennan underwent surgery to remove his left hind leg as the cartilege was badly damaged.  He's perfectly fine now, though!

Brennan was placed on medication to make him comfortable and has had the best of medical care for his knee.  He's a very nice boy who is grateful for the food, friends and warm, soft bed.  He appears to be a social eater, so we'll make sure he has lots of company to make sure he puts on the weight he should.  He is very friendly and loves to be patted - perhaps he belonged to someone at some time?  He has been neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV and FeLV.  He's looking forward to a family who will keep him safe and love him for the rest of his life!  We hope his dream might come true really soon! 

On November 5, 2018, Brennan's dream DID come true when a DunRoamin' friend came to meet him.  She was very impressed with his personality and attitude and just knew he'd be the perfect match for her home which includes our Brawl!  Congratulations, Brennan!  Hi, Brawl!!

"Chazzy" came to DunRoamin' on October 25, 2010, after being found on the side of the road in the pouring rain near Tim Horton's on Beardsley Road near Woodstock, NB two days earlier.  He appeared to have an injured leg, as he would not let his rescuers touch it.  He was very hungry, cold, wet and exhausted.  He was taken in and cared for until he could be brought for medical help.  He was born about May, 2007.

Chazzy was diagnosed with an extreme number of fleas.  He had never been neutered, had worms, bloody diarrhea and an ulcerated tongue.  This would have made it very difficult and painful for him to eat, thus explaining his lack of weight.   He also had a urinary problem in which he was unable to pee.  He required surgery which involved amputating his penis and has been eating Royal Canin Urinary S/O food since then and, as with all our cats who are prescribed this food, he has never had a recurrence at all!  He is a perfectly happy, healthy and normal cat.

Chazzy shows his gratitude by purring, kneading and cuddling with any human who comes near him.   He lived with 20 other cats, and he got along perfectly well with every single one.  He plays like a little kitten!  He lives in a foster home awaiting that permanent family home he's been dreaming of for years.  He is a beautiful boy who would really like to have a warm, safe home forever.  His ramblin' days are done - it's no fun!!  And by the way, he'd be pleased to go to any home - even one with a dog!

On November 4, 2018, Chazzy decided that he didn't want to leave his foster home - he's been here since June, 2012 and he thinks he shouldn't have to leave EVER!  His foster mother has agreed to keep him in the family!  Congratulations, Chazz!!

"Seuss" came to us on May 26, 2018 from the Tobique area where he had been found on the road all alone late the previous night.  He couldn't walk and several injuries on his back end were immediately discernible.  He was brought for help, which he needed badly.

Seuss was born about May 26, 2017.  His injuries appeared to be at least three weeks old and they consisted of road rash and muscle wasting in his hind end.  He had been dragging himself around with his front legs as he had numerous injuries on his hind legs, perhaps as a result of an altercation with a vehicle.  X-rays revealed no broken bones, fortunately - he's been through enough!  His injury was consistent with having had his tail jerked.  Seuss required subcutaneous fluids to help him rehydrate.

Seuss was unable to urinate easily and his bladder was huge.  A catheter relieved him of this discomfort and he had to be expressed while his bladder healed from the trauma and stretching.  He has obviously been someone's cat because he is familiar and comfortable with people and he was happy to know that he was now safe and cared for. 

He received the very best of medical care including appropriate medications to help him heal and he was soon eating like he hadn't had a meal in years!  He is able to pass urine on his own for the most part but he does not appear to have any control of his hind legs.  Seuss is now neutered and completely up to date on his vaccines.  He's a beautiful, extremely affectionate boy who rolls over immediately if you'll rub his belly.  He LOVES humans!

On October 26, 2018, he was adopted by his loving family in Riverbank where he'll have the best care possible.  Congratulations, Seuss.  You are loved and will be cared for by the very best.

"Aspen" came to us on August 10, 2018 from Upper Brighton.  No one was able to care for her so she was brought to us.  Aspen was born about June 10, 2018 and had an injured eye which had to be removed. 

Aspen is a very cute and loving little furball who is very grateful to be free of pain and have lots of food, water and love.  She also appreciates her soft bed and toys!  She had an upper respiratory infection but is doing better already.  She is already spayed and will complete her vaccine regimen by mid-September, at which time she'll be ready for a home!  She is adorable, and the most affectionate little thing you'll ever meet!  She has no difficulty with having only one eye - she's perfectly fine!  Please come meet her!

On October 19, 2018, Aspen was adopted by a family in Florenceville where she'll join Caruso, Moe and Curly, also DunRoamin' cats.  Congratulations to your entire family!  Please stay in touch!

"Malcolm" came to us on August 22, 2018 from the Hartland Golf Course with his mom and three sisters.  His mom was trying to survive by scrounging for food for her babies.  It's not a safe place with all the vehicles and wild animals in the area and Malcolm is grateful to be in a nice, warm, safe and loving foster home with his family.  He dreams of his own human family one day soon.

Malcolm was born about July 4, 2008.  He is a very cute and sweet little guy who loves people and is always seeking out attention.  He loves to sleep in boxes, and the spin mop pail is a great place to nap!  He was fully vaccinated, neutered, treated for all parasites and tested for FIV/FeLV so that he has the very best chance at a good and safe life! 

On October 19, 2018, Malcolm's favourite day of his life finally arrived:   he gets to go home with his very OWN FAMILY!  He's so EXCITED!  He now lives in Beardsley, NB with his new family and GUESS WHAT??  His sister Ombrea (see below) was invited too! Within no time they were settled and content - just look at their photos!!  Congratulation!!  Thanks, Bridget, for taking them in and for everything else you've done to help these little ones.  We really appreciate it!

"Ombrea" came to us on August 22, 2018 from the Hartland Golf Course where her mom was trying to feed her and her three siblings by scrounging for food.  It's not a safe place with all the vehicles and wild animals in the area and Ombrea is grateful to be in a nice, warm, safe and loving foster home.  She dreams of her own family one day soon.

On October 19, 2018, Ombrea's dream came true. She was adopted by a very nice family in Beardsley where she'll have another cat friend, three young children, and her brother Malcolm (see above) is going with her!  Congratulations!  Thanks to their new family - you're awesome!

"Millie" came to us on August 22, 2018 from the Hartland Golf Course with her mom and three siblings where her mom was trying to survive by scrounging for food for her babies.  It's not a safe place with all the vehicles and wild animals in the area, and Millie was grateful to be in a nice, warm, safe and loving foster home.  She dreamed of her own family one day soon.

Millie was born about July 4, 2008.  She loves to lay in the window and is a very relaxed little girl.  She likes her nap time, but she is also very playful, friendly and energetic.  She will be fully vaccinated, spayed, treated for all parasites and tested for FIV/FeLV before she is adopted, so she has the very best chance at a good and safe life! 

On October 18, 2018, Millie was adopted by the wonderful lady who also adopted her mom, Mariette (see below).  Mariette will now always have feline company and Millie gets to be with her mom!  Congratulations!  Have a wonderful life!  Send lots of photos!!

"Churchill" returned to us on July 14, 2018.  He originally came to us on August 1, 2014 from Perth-Andover where he had sustained a tail injury and his family was unable to care for him.  Due to the nature of the injury, his tail had to be amputated, but he's just fine!  As a matter of fact, he's pretty much perfect!!  He was born about August 1, 2012.  In December, 2014, Churchill was adopted by a very nice gentleman from Sussex, and he lived happily with his friends Moe and Curly.  Unfortunately, the gentleman's job took him away from home for four days a week and he feared Churchill, Moe and Curly missed human company.  He reluctantly returned them to ensure they would get a home where more human companionship might be available.

Churchill is overweight, but this will soon be rectified with diet and lots of exercise.  Churchill is doing well in his new environment.  He is friendly, affectionate and loving.  He gets along with all his new feline friends and is hoping to get the opportunity to live in a home again.

On October 12, 2018, Churchill was happy to learn that he had been chosen as the newest addition to a young family in Centreville where he'll be the new best friend of two young boys.  Congratulations, Churchill!  Stay in touch!!

"Moe" and "Curly" returned to us on July 14, 2018.  They originally came to us on August 22, 2011 from Woodstock where they had been found all alone behind a bar by the town police.  They were born about June 1, 2011.  They were not even three months old and had no one to care for them.  They had a large number of fleas, ear mites and worms.  Curly has beautiful blue eyes and otherwise looks very much like his brother, Moe, who has green eyes.

Curly and Moe were adopted by a very nice gentleman from Sussex on December 2, 2014, where they lived happily, but unfortunately the gentleman's employment eventually kept him away from home for four days each week and he realized that his friends were missing human company.  He reluctantly returned them to us to find them a loving home where they might receive more attention.

Curly and Moe were initially timid due to the change in their circumstances and living arrangements, but they soon settled in perfectly.  They are very laid-back, loving, attentive and affectionate cats who can't wait to live with a family once again.

On October 12, 2018, Moe and Curly were ecstatic to learn that they had been chosen by a family in Florenceville to be their newest additions.  They now live with Caruso, another ex-DunRoamin' cat.  Congratulations, boys!

"Mariette" came to us on August 22, 2018 from the Hartland Golf Course where she had been begging for food to ensure she could feed herself and her four babies.  She was born about August 22, 2017, so was still a baby herself and should not have had to have babies of her own to care for.  She was spayed as soon as possible to ensure her health and the certainty that she will not contribute to the already too-large number of unwanted and homeless cats in our communities.

Mariette was thin, had ear mites and an old injury to her right eye which has been assessed and will cause her no concern.  She is friendly, cautious of dogs and very loving and affectionate.  She is also very appreciative of having food for herself and her babies.  She loves people, loves to be petted and loves to snuggle.  She is fortunate to have a warm, safe foster home for her and her family and she is fortunate to know that her life and those of her babies have been changed forever. 

On October 12, 2018, Mariette was welcomed into a wonderful and loving home in East Newbridge.  Congratulations, Mariette!  You're home now!!

"Tovah" came to us on May 6, 2018 from Glassville where she was one of several cats who occupied a colony in the area.  Although people were trying to help, some cats were not in good shape.  Tovah was one of 19 whom we spayed and neutered to help keep their numbers from climbing, which would have added to their illnesses, injuries and lack of care.  Tovah was born about May 7, 2013 and was very scared.  She was to be spayed on this day, but she unexpectedly gave birth to four kittens:  Bonsai, Jakoba, Rhubarb and May.  Unfortunately, little May survived less than 24 hours, despite all medical assistance provided.  Please read about her on our Pet Memorials page. 

Several other kittens and cats at this location also did not survive and the remainder desperately needed help, which they received from DunRoamin' volunteers and supporters.  All 19 from this colony were spayed or neutered and we accepted seven (Tovah, Bonsai, Jakoba, Rhubarb, Gordo, Splinter and Kix) as wards of DunRoamin' as there was no other feasible alternative for them.

Tovah was initially very scared, but thanks to her foster mother slowly came around to accepting pats and friendship.  Thanks to her foster mom for putting such time, effort, compassion, love and dedication into this family of cats who would have otherwise most probably have succumbed to similar terrible fates of some of the others.  We're confident everyone will be fine now.

On October 11, 2018, Tovah was happy and relieved to learn that she will never have to leave her foster home.  Her foster mom would like her to stay as a permanent member.  Thanks so much - she'll be just fine now!  Congratulations, Tovah!

"Muse" was born about July 1, 2018 and came to us on July 26, 2018 from the Cloverdale colony where he, his mom and three siblings were living.  There were about 70 cats on site and due to the fact that none was spayed or neutered, this colony was doomed to become larger.  That can mean potential illness, injuries, etc, to all, due to less food and shelter.  It would be a fight just to survive for these little guys.  Thankfully, a gentleman was caring for these cats, but he was very quickly becoming overwhelmed. He asked for help, and we couldn't refuse these little ones.

Muse was fostered by two of our most wonderful foster parents - they've fostered well over 150!  Thanks to Bryan and Mandy.  Muse and his family are now with another foster family - thanks, Katrina!  Muse has turned into a very handsome and loving boy and his greatest dream is to have a family of his very own.

On October 11, 2018, Muse's dream came true when he was chosen by a young lady from Fredericton to be a friend for her three cats. Muse loves other cats and is very excited to begin this new segment of his life.  Congratulations, Muse!  Don't forget to write!

"Lainey" came to us on July 17, 2018 from Cloverdale where she was a member of a colony of cats who numbered approximately 70.  A kind gentleman was trying to care for them, but it was a huge undertaking.  Because they were not spayed or neutered, their numbers continued to increase exponentially.  Lainey and her siblings Charlene, Carter and Walker (see above and below) were born about April 17, 2018.

Lainey is the second most friendly of her siblings (behind Carter) and is known in her foster home as Miss Personality.  She is very friendly and vocal.  She loves to play and loves to cuddle just as much.  She likes dogs and cats and greets all of her foster siblings with a nose rub every morning.  If she wants something, she'll certainly let you know!  She is definitely a sweetheart who would like to be adopted with a sibling or at least into a home with other pets.

On October 5, 2018, she and her sister Walker (see below) were adopted by a very nice family in Centreville where they'll be new friends for a young boy.  Congratulations, Lainey!  We hope to hear from you very soon!

"Walker" came to us on July 17, 2018 from Cloverdale where she was a member of a colony of cats who numbered approximately 70.  A kind gentleman was trying to care for them, but it was a huge undertaking.  Because they were not spayed or neutered, their numbers continued to increase exponentially.  Walker and her siblings Charlene, Carter and Lainey (see above) were born about April 17, 2018.

Walker was originally very nervous, but with Temptations and canned food, she was soon able to be bribed into tolerance!  She's still a bit shy, but is coming out of her shell more and more every day.  She likes dogs, other cats and her toy balls!  She has a mischievous side and often looks like she got caught with her paw in the cookie jar!  She loves other cats and dogs and also loves to greet her foster siblings with nose kisses each morning.  She's very busy, but if you can catch her, she's a cuddler and will purr all day!  She is just learning to meow and has a very throaty voice for such a little one!

On October 5, 2018, Wlaker and her sister Lainey (see above) were adopted by a very nice family in Centreville where they'll have the life of which they've always dreamed.  Thank you so much!  Please write soon!

"Anastasia" came to us on April 24, 2018 from Wakefield where she had been found on the side of the road the previous evening.  Attempts to locate her owner in the area failed.  As allergies were a concern, she couldn't stay with the people who found her.  Anastasia was pregnant, had ear mites and moderate dental disease which resulted in the fact that she has lost several teeth and needed several teeth removed.

Anastasia was born about April 24, 2010, so has been around for a while.  She is very comfortable in a home environment and loves people, so it is quite possible that she was a house cat before she lived outdoors on her own.  Anastasia was spayed on April 30 but her vet has recommended that she not be vaccinated at this time as she has had some health issues, but is much better now.  She tested negative for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus.  She will be happy to go to a loving home in the very near future.  She is calm, quiet, attentive and affectionate - she hopes to live in a quiet, no-stress home where people love company, because she'll always want to be where her humans are (preferably on their lap!) 

On October 3, 2018, Anastasia won the heart of a lady from Perth-Andover.  She will live with several other pets, including ex-DunRoamin' friends.  Congratulations, Anastasia, you hit the jackpot!  Send lots of photos!!

"Davis" came to DunRoamin' on July 20, 2018 from Woodstock where it was reported he was very ill and required medical assistance.  He had apparently been left behind by tenants who had moved from the building - not cool!  A compassionate supporter travelled to Woodstock to pick him up and he was examined by his new vet which produced the following information:  Davis was born about July 20, 2015.  Although he had ear mites, a mild eye infection, was dehydrated and had tartar on his teeth, he was otherwise healthy.

Davis is a friendly and loving boy who deserves more than abandonment.  He has already been neutered and fully vaccinated.  He's ready for a home and he definitely deserves one!   He is a beautiful, friendly little boy and he's endeared himself to all of us in the short time he's been here. 

On September 28, 2018, Davis was adopted into a home in Lower Brighton.  Congratulations, Davis!  Please stay in touch!

"Mozart" came to DunRoamin' on July 18, 2018 from the Hartland area where he had been found in a yard all alone.  No one was able to take responsibility for him and he was just a baby, born about May 14, 2018, with no one to keep him safe from vehicles, predators and so many other dangers out there for a little kitten.  He had ear mites, was hungry and thirsty, but was otherwise healthy. 

Mozart was neutered and vaccinated and is eager to go to a home where he will be loved and cared for.  He is a typical high-energy little guy who loves people.  He is familiar with dogs and other cats and likes them all.   He was fostered by a young lady who was broken under his spell, so . . .

As of September 22, 2018, Mozart is now a full-fledged, card-carrying, fuzzy, happy, grateful, purring, full-time, permanent member of his foster family.  He's IN!!!!  Yahooo!  Way to go, Mozart!  You've got it made now!  Congratulations!!

"Motor" came to us on August 6, 2018 from Greenfield where he had wandered into a back yard. The people who found him were unable to care for him and he appeared to require medical help.

Motor was examined by his new best vet friend and the following was learned:  he had conjunctivitis, upper respiratory infection, was mildly dehydrated and had ear mites.  He was happy to accept food, water and a warm soft bed, and his motor roared to attest to the pleasure and contentment he felt as a result of the care he was receiving.

Motor appears to have been born about April 9, 2018 and weighed less than three-and-a-half pounds.  He's gaining quickly with the food, medication and care he's getting!  He is very appreciative of his new home and friends.  He will start his vaccines and be neutered in early September, so he can't wait for a new home.  He's very lively, happy, playful, energetic - he feels SO much better already.

On September 22, 2018, Motor was adopted by a young couple in Fredericton where he'll be loved forever!  He's a very fortunate little boy.  Send photos, Motor!!

"Tundra" came to us on November 17, 2017 from Woodstock where she was a stray who was living outside on her own, along with several others who were, thankfully, being fed by a kind lady who realized Tundra needed help.  She was born about January 17, 2017 and weighed only 5 pounds and 2 ounces.  She had diarrhea, was dehydrated, had ear mites and had tartar on her teeth.

Tundra was malnourished and was initially prescribed a fibre diet to ensure she did not lose more nutrients or fluids.  Her urine output was monitored and she was soon doing very well since she's had some good food, water and medical care, as well as lots of affection.  As tiny as she was, she may not have been able to hold out much longer.  She thanks her rescuer for all she does to help stray, abandoned and starving cats in her area. 

UPDATE:  As of January 13, 2018, Tundra is just fine.  She has put on weight, loves her warm bed and loves people.  She had a bit of a cold (upper respiratory infection), but she's perfectly fine now.  She can't wait to be able to go to a family of her own. As of February 6, 2018, she is in a temporary foster home which she enjoys immensely (thanks, Jill!) but can't wait to have a permanent home and family of her own. 

On September 20, 2018, Tundra was officially welcomed into a home in Oakland where she'll live happily with her two human servants and her canine family members.  We'd like to thank her new family for all they do for cats and dogs everywhere - you are truly appreciated.

"Caruso" came to us on May 25, 2018 from the Perth-Andover area where he was a stray whom  people had been feeding for about a week.  He had a tail injury which they were unable to address, so Caruso came to us for help.  Caruso was born about May 25, 2012.

Caruso's tail injury appeared to be the result of a bite wound from another animal and it was badly infected, so he required antibiotics to combat the infection.  He was soon fine and is now neutered, fully vaccinated and tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.

Caruso is a very nice boy who has obviously been around people before.  He had mild tartar on his teeth and a chipped fang, but was otherwise healthy!  Caruso loves to stick his tongue out and he's extremely cute when he does that!  He is more than affectionate with humans and gets along very well with other cats.  He loves attention, loves to play and is the first one to greet you when you come through the door.  He absolutely loves people! 

On September 20, 2018, Caruso was adopted by a family in Oakland who promises him nothing but the best in life for the remainder of his days.  Congratulations, Caruso.  Send us lots of photos and tell us how your life is going!  We can't wait to hear all the good news!

"Thea" came to us on July 3, 2018 from Hartland.  She had developed a prolapsed rectum (similar to Welsh - see our Adopted Cats page) and her owner was unable to provide medical care.  Thea was born about July 3, 2005.

Examination revealed that her rectum was approximately three inches outside her body.  She had mild tartar on her teeth and scratches on the back of her head, most likely from scratching at ear mites.  All her medical problems were addressed and she was soon completely healthy once again.  She requires no special care and is fully vaccinated, healthy and happy - what a beauty!!  She has the most gorgeous eyes that gaze at you with such intensity that you're almost positive she can see right into your mind!  She loves people and is very social.

On September 20, 2018, Thea met a family from Centreville with two young boys, and that was that!  She won them over and is now a part of their happy family.  Congratulations, Thea.  Thanks to your family for everything!  Today is the first day of the rest of your life!  Yahooo!!!

"Verna" came to us on July 26, 2018 from Cloverdale where she was one of a colony of approximately 70 cats.  A kind gentleman was trying to care for them, but it was a huge undertaking.  Because they were not spayed or neutered, their numbers continued to increase exponentially and food and shelter were becoming increasingly hard to come by.  Fortunately, a gentleman was trying to care for them, but due to large and growing numbers, he was overwhelmed.  He asked for our help and thanks to friends like the Oromocto SPCA who were willing to help, those who offered to accept feral cats as barn cats and those who fostered kittens which we accepted, all will have a better life.

Verna was born about August 1, 2016.  She is timid but she's a very good mom.  Thanks to Mandy and Bryan for fostering her and her kiddens.  She is now in a foster home in Stickney where she and her babies enjoy the attention of another wonderful foster family.  Thanks, Katrina!

On September 20, 2018, Verna returned to a barn setting where she will be cared for as she was much too scared to become a house cat.  She has been spayed, vaccinated and will have the best of care in a barn setting where she will be much more comfortable and content.  Congratulations, Verna.  No more litters and a much better life is in front of you!  Thanks to all who have helped her by contributing to her care in  so many ways.

"Carter" came to us on July 17, 2018 from Cloverdale where he was a member of a colony of cats who numbered approximately 70.  A kind gentleman was trying to care for them, but it was a huge undertaking.  Because they were not spayed or neutered, their numbers continued to increase exponentially.  Carter and his siblings Charlene, Lainey and Walker (see above and below) were born about April 17, 2018.

Carter is not shy at all.  He rules the roost and is the most friendly.  He loves other cats and has fallen in love with the family dog who loves him right back!  He's made himself at home and he's not sure he ever wants to leave!

On September 7, 2018, Carter, now known as Knightly, was adopted by his foster mother.  He had endeared himself to the entire family (including the four-legged ones) and couldn't picture himself ever leaving, so he's got his forever home!  Thanks to his family for fostering him and his siblings!  Congratulations, Carter!!

"Amazon" and his sisters "Ikea" and Etsy came to us on April 23, 2018 from Glassville wherethey were found in the bottom of a potato barrel.  No mom was present and they were cold, dehydrated and hungry.   His mom was part of a feral colony, but it appeared she had not been present for at least several hours and these kittens needed help. Thanks to the compassion of a kind supporter, they were able to receive all the care they required to survive and flourish.

Amazon, Ikea and Etsy were born about April 1, 2018, so were barely three weeks old. Thanks to the efforts of a kind vet tech, they were soon safe, warm and content.  They had to be fed by bottle every few hours and stimulated to pee and poop every few hours as well, until they were old enough to take care of themselves.  Thanks to this vet tech, they now have the chance to do just that.  Etsy was adopted on June 15, 2018.  Amazon and Ikea were very attached to each other, so we hoped they could find a home together.  Amazon is very laid back and affectionate while Ikea is a little more reserved and would like to stay with the security of her brother.

On August 27, 2018, that's exactly what happened when a kind lady from Upper Woodstock met them and fell in love with both.  They now live with her where they'll have the run of the house, have many large windows to watch the birds and lots of warm soft beds to sleep on.  They'll keep their new mom happy and entertained - they promise!  Congratulations to all!  Please write soon!

"Scratch" and her brother Dent (see below) came to us along with their mom Sylvenia on July 17, 2018.  They came from a colony of approximately 70 cats in the Cloverdale area where they were being fed by two kind gentlemen who were doing their very best to keep them safe, healthy and fed, but 70 is a LOT!  They requested help to spay and neuter them, as well as help in finding them new homes.

Scratch was born about June 19, 2018.  She, her mom and brother were fostered by a kind supporter but they are now back with us.  Scratch loves her brother, Dent, and they're both doing very well.

On August 20, 2018, Scratch and her brother Dent met a lady from Fredericton who could not help but be overwhelmed by their cuteness!  They now live in their new home where they immediately settled in and now run the entire household!  They love their new home and family and we are so glad they got to stay together!  Their lives will be entirely different than where they may have ended up had they not been rescued from the colony.  Scratch, Dent and all the other Cloverdale cats thank all who helped changed their lives.  We are forever grateful.

"Dent" and his sister Scratch (see above) and mom Sylvenia came to us on July 17, 2018 from Cloverdale where they were part of a colony of approximately 70 cats who were being cared for by two gentlemen who did their best to feed and provide shelter for them.  As their numbers grew, they knew they needed help in spaying and neutering them and finding them new homes.

Dent was born about June 19, 2018.  He, his mom and sister were fostered by an extremely compassionate and dedicated couple who have fostered more than 125 of our cats and kittens!  That's dedication!  Thank you SO much!

On August 19, 2018, a lady from Fredericton met Dent and fell in love with him, as well as his sister Scratch.  We're glad they get to stay together.  It took them no time to take over the entire household, and they're so happy to have their new home and family for the rest of their lives.  Congratulations!  Your whole life is going to be SOOOOO wonderful!

"Naomi" came to us on May 24, 2017 from Hartland where her owners were moving and unable to take her with them.  She was born about September 4, 2009 and has the most beautiful green eyes!  She has a great personality and loves people.

Naomi is fully vaccinated, spayed and tested for FIV and FeLV, as are all DunRoamin' cats.  She lived with several other cats and gets along with them very well.  She also has no problem with dogs, and she'd be happy to have a home with other cats, dogs or with just a human or two to cuddle with.  She is also familiar with young children and loves them!  She is very loving and will follow you around and ask for attention.  Her favourite spot would be on your lap watching television or beside your keyboard while you work on your computer.  And of course, she'd love to be able to sleep on your bed at night - she is very affectionate!  

Naomi had a bit of a respiratory problem which made her sneeze every once in a while, but overall she's just great!  She was fortunate to be invited to live in a foster home since February 6, 2018 and did very well.  She displayed no upper respiratory symptoms at all in her foster home - she just needed a whole house to play in!   She thanks Jillian and Josh for all their love and care of her - you've been wonderful!

On August 18, 2018, a family drove all the way from Alma to meet Naomi, and the rest is history!  She won their hearts and they've won hers!  She now has three young children to play with and gets to sleep on any bed she likes!  She also has a 21-year old dog to love.  Congratulations, Naomi.  Please send lots of photos of you and your new family, and write often - we can't wait to hear about your new life!

"Hettie" and her sister Candida (see below) returned to DunRoamin' on June 1, 2018. They had originally come to us on October 15, 2016 from Johnville where they and their siblings Devon, Shane and Evan had been found in a box on some steps.  Their lives were in danger and they had no place to go.  They were adopted by a nice couple from Monquart on November 21, 2016, but due to medical considerations in the household they were no longer able to be cared for.  They were born about August 15, 2016.

Hettie is a beautiful little girl who was born with only 3/4 of her tail.  Her sister, Candida, has no tail.  Hettie is almost completely black with a few white hairs on her neck.  They are both beautiful cats whose greatest wish is to go to a home together.  They were originally a little timid in their new home, but given a few days were back to their normal personalities - loving, purring, head-butting and affectionate furballs!  They're beautiful!!

On August 11, 2018, Hettie and Candida met a very nice lady from Fredericton who chose them as the newest members of her family.  They will now live in Fredericton where they'll be spoiled rotten!  Congratulations!  Please send photos soon!  We'll miss you both!

"Garreth" returned to us on April 4, 2018 from Fredericton where he had been adopted in 2014.  He had originally come to us in 2013 when he was abandoned in a box at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  He was adopted in 2014, but had to be returned due to allergies in his family.

Garreth was initially very scared, but was doing well after only a few days.  He was already neutered, has received all his vaccines and has been treated for parasites and tested for FIV and FeLV.  He is ready for a new home and he's anxious to get back into a family situation.  He's a very nice boy and he's hoping to meet his new family very soon.  Garreth was born about June 15, 2013.

On August 8, 2018, Garreth was invited to join the family of a young man in Fredericton where he'll be spoiled rotten and have the life he's been dreaming of.  We'll miss you, Garreth.  Please write often and keep your best friend Sarah up to date on how you're doing!

"Lemur" came to DunRoamin' on November 15, 2016 when he was abandoned in Jacksonville by persons who were apparently unwilling to take responsibility for him.  He had a cauliflower ear and an upper respiratory infection.  He was born about November 15, 2011.

Lemur is the 200th stray we have accepted this year.  Our resources were maxed out, including space, volunteers, foster homes and funding, but he needed us, so here we are!

As of January 10, 2018 and having been with us for more than 14 months, Lemur wais doing just fine.  He loves attention and will bat at your hand with his paw to make sure he gets the attention he feels he deserves.  He's quite the boy!  He would love to have a home by himself or with  one of his best friends, Isaac or Deke with whom he frequently sleeps intertwined.  He is a beautiful boy who loves attention and hopes to have his very own family soon.  He's not a fan of dogs, though, so would like to have a cats-only home.

In July, 2018, Lemur was diagnosed with a tumour in his left ear.  Fortunately, his favourite vet was able to remove it successfully and he's now perfectly fine.  He's very grateful for the care he's received.  AND . . . he's very grateful because . . .

. . . On August 6, 2018, he was adopted by a very nice couple from Halifax who loves him drastically!  They've waited for his recovery from surgery so they could take him home and today is finally the day!  Lemur is healthy, happy and ecstatic to join their household which includes our Mayella, who is going to love her new brother too!  Congratulations!  Thanks again to your new family!

"Talon" came to us on July 26, 2018 from Cloverdale where he was a member of a colony of cats who numbered approximately 70.  A kind gentleman was trying to care for them, but it was a huge undertaking, and food and shelter were a huge concern.  Because they were not spayed or neutered, their numbers continued to increase exponentially.  Talon, born about July 26, 2016, had an ulcer on his eye which required medical care, so he was accepted by DunRoamin'.  Talon's eye was cared for, he was neutered, vaccinated, tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and soon was healthy and ready to go home. 

On August 2, 2018, Talon returned to his home in Cloverdale where he will be cared for by his previous owner, but will no longer contribute to the large numbers who once roamed there.  Thanks to all who contributed financially, by fostering or by accepting spayed/neutered/vaccinated cats into their barns to ensure this colony would no longer continue to grow.  Thanks also to the gentleman who has cared for such a large number of cats to ensure they were as safe and healthy as possible.  They have now begun safe, healthy new lives.

"Harpo" and "Georgina" came to us from a colony of cats in Cloverdale on July 25, 2018.   Both females, Harpo was born about April 17, 2018 and Georgina was born about March 25, 2018.  Other than having ear mites, they were healthy, thanks to the gentleman who was attempting to keep them warm, safe and fed.  Unfortunately, there were approximately 70 cats in this colony and he needed help to care for them.

Harpo and Georgina were timid but are young, so will acclimatize easily, especially once they get to a warm, safe loving home.

On August 2, 2018, Harpo and Georgina went to the Oromocto SPCA where they will find a home and family.  Thanks to the Oromocto SPCA for helping with this huge colony!  These cats and kittens are very fortunate to have such dedication, resources and support for assistance!  They'll now have the safe and long lives they deserve!  Congratulations!

"Lotus" returned to us from Keswick Ridge, NB, on June 9, 2018 where she had been adopted in April 2018, along with another cat named Chyler.  Lotus originally came to us from Bath where she was the mom of five little kittens who were born in a box in the rafters of a garage during the cold winter month of November, 2017. 

Lotus lived with us until she was adopted on April 3, 2018, but she decided that she would bully her new timid friend, so she returned to us to find a home with a less timid cat.  Lotus is a very nice girl who lives with several other cats of varying ages.  We hope she'll find a home soon where she will either be an only cat who gets all the attention she could ever desire or that she has a feline sibling or two who are not of a timid personality.  She is a very nice little girl with a sense of humour and lots of energy.  On July 8, 2018, Lotus went to be a foster kitty for a nice young couple in Fredericton, but it didn't work out because . . .

. . . on July 26, 2018, we were informed that Lotus had decided to become a permanent family member!  She now shares her home with this couple and a three-legged DunRoamin' cat named Agnogg!  Congratulations to the entire family!  Thank you for all your support of DunRoamin' and for giving these two cats a most perfect home! 

"Kato" came to us on May 10, 2018, from Perth-Andover where he was found all alone under a car in a parking lot.  He was in desperately bad shape.  Kato was born about May 10, 2013.

Kato had eye infections so badly that his eyes were sealed shut with infection.  He was hypothermic (very low body temperature), extremely dehydrated and was barely conscious on arrival at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic.  He would not have survived much longer on his own.  Fortunately, Dr Rennick was there to help him.

Kato was given antibiotics, warm intravenous fluids and all other medical care required to help him overcome his serious condition.  Two weeks later he was doing so very much better and he's perfect now!  He loves his canned food and he's happy to be warm, safe, loved and waited on paw and foot by his human servants.  He was already neutered upon his arrival, so he has belonged to someone at some time.  He hopes for a new home where he can stay indoors and never have to face such hardship again.

On July 24, 2018, Kato was ecstatic to learn that he had been chosen to be the newest member of a family in Florenceville.  They've been trying very hard to pick the perfect cat for them, and Kato was one of their first choices, and definitely their last!  Congratulations, Kato!  You'll have four human siblings to play with and you'll have all the attention you deserve.  Send photos!!

"Brawl" came to us on May 26, 2018 from the Newbridge area where he was found on the road the night before.  Brawl had a large and infected wound on his neck, all four feet were torn and infected, his legs were in rough shape and he was dehydrated and very hungry.  Brawl was born about May 26, 2014.  He appeared to be very nice, kind and affectionate - but his personality came out much stronger once he felt better.

Brawl was sedated, shaved, his wounds cleaned and irrigated and he was given medication to help his body heal.  He was grateful for the care and warm bed and he was especially grateful for the medical attention.  He has been in this shape for what appears may have been months.  He has a wonderful personality and received every form of assistance we could provide.

Thanks to the staff of the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic for being there for him when he most needed the help.  Brawl and all his friends are grateful for the support and we're grateful to be able to help these little ones.  Brawl has shown his gratitude by being a loving, purring, headbutting little furball who is more than affectionate and can't wait to have a home where he'd be safe, loved and cared for for the rest of his life!

On July 23, 2018, Brawl's wish came true when he was adopted by a young lady from Fredericton.  He'll have the best of care and will give the best of himself in return.  Congratulations, Brawl.  Your new world starts today.  Please don't forget to send pictures and tell us how your new life is going!

"Acer" came to us on June 28, 2018 from the Riverbank area where a nice lady delivering mail heard him crying from a tree near the mailboxes.  He was soon rescued and brought for help.  Acer was found to have a thin body condition as well as fleas and earmites.  He was treated for his parasites and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Acer was born about February 1, 2018.  He is loving and affectionate and would like to soon have a home and family who will care for him while he shows his gratitude in return. 

Acer has been neutered and fully vaccinated.  He is an extremely loving little kitten who will turn climb into your arms and turn himself upside down for a belly rub.  He also loves to lie on your shoulder.  He is very energetic and happy also - who wouldn't be after being rescued??

On July 22, 2018, Acer was adopted by a family from Lake George where he'll have a better life than which he could possibly have ever dreamed.  He is now a new brother for DunRoamin' cats Clifford and Curtis.  Congratulations!!

"Merrick" came to us on the morning of June 7, 2018 after having been found all alone on the highway between Hartland and Woodstock.  He was born about April 19, 2018 so was still a tiny baby.  No one was able to take care of him.

Merrick is a cute little boy who had some parasites and was quite timid, but with a little help and good nutrition he was soon doing well.  He was fostered by a loving mom and came back with us awaiting a home.  He is GORGEOUS and he's CUTE beyond words!  He is extremely playful, particularly enjoying his fishing rod.  He will play you out, then find someone else to play out!  He purrs constantly and is a very happy little boy.

On July 13, 2018, Merrick met a lady from Upper Brighton and the rest, as they say, is history.  He will join this family where he will be loved beyond words!  Make sure to send us lots of photos, Merrick - we'd love to watch as you grow up!  Be a good boy - we'll miss you and your happy kitten antics!!

"Oban" returned to us on May 7, 2018.  He had originally come to us on August 18, 2017 from the Perth-Andover area where he was one of eight kittens who had been born to two unspayed mothers.  Three kittens had already passed away, so Oban and his family and friends were fortunate to receive help.  Oban was born about August 2, 2017, so was only about two weeks old.  All kittens had fleas and were anemic.  Oban would like to encourage all pet owners to spay and neuter their pets so that these circumstances don't continue to occur.

Oban was fostered by a wonderful and caring supporter and soon became healthy with the love and medical care he received.  On October 25, 2017, he was adopted by a family in Maplehurst.  Unfortunately, Oban began to pee inappropriately, so was returned to us.  He was seen by his favourite vet who prescribed some medication and he's been fine ever since!

Oban has personality plus!  And he loves people!  He only wants to be where there are friendly, loving humans!  They're his favourite thing in the world, and he's happy to be fostered in a loving home while he awaits a permanent family. 

On July 11, 2018, we learned that Oban was no longer a foster kitty.  He has made himself such an intricate part of the family that they couldn't dream of not having him permanently!  Oban now lives in Meductic with two other DunRoamin' cats, Boone and Blizzard.  Congratulations, everyone!  Thanks so much, Monique!!

"Melanie" and her four babies Emmy, Katie, Leigh and Correen came to DunRoamin' on March 2, 2018 from Oakland where they and several other unspayed and unneutered adult cats were living.  Melanie's friend Mayella and her babies also came to us on the same day.  Melanie was born about March 2, 2016.  Her babies were all daughters.

Melanie is a beautiful little girl who is exceptionally affectionate and a very loving mom.  She was healthy overall but had a scar on the cornea of her left eye.  She has a unique purr in that it is very loud and can be heard from a great distance - anyone remember Aurele and his purr??  Very similar!!  And she purrs a lot! 

Melanie cared for her babies in a foster home where they all received the best of food, love and medical attention.  We thank her foster mom for all her support!  Melanie moved back with us at DunRoamin' and was spayed, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and ready for a nice, quiet home of her very own.  She is very affectionate, loving and kind.  If you're looking for that kind of a companion and family member, she's your girl!

On July 11, 2018, Melanie met a lady from Fredericton Junction who has a beautiful home that she wanted to share.  She chose Emmy and Leigh (see below), the last of Melanie's kittens to be adopted, AND . . . she chose Melanie so she could remain with her babies!  Congratulations, everyone!  Thanks, Emily!  Please drop a line soon!!

"Emmy" and her sister "Leigh" came to us from Oakland on March 2, 2018, along with their mom Melanie (see above) and their other siblings Katie and Correen who have since been adoapted.  They were part of a large number of cats who had been dropped at a home.  The people in the home were trying to care for them, but kittens were being born way too often as they were not spayed or neutered and the household was soon overwhelmed.  All other adult cats will be spayed or neutered under our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program to ensure other kittens are not born into a world in which too many already do not have homes.

Emmy and Leigh are both sweet little kittens.  They were born about February 6, 2018 and weighed only one pound and one ounce upon their arrival with us.  They are virtually indistinguishable - twins!!  They had an upper respiratory infection, but they received great vet care and are now perfectly fine.   They are ready for a home and family and they can hardly wait!  We'd like to thank the vet tech who fostered them - they're very lucky little kittens!  Emmy and Leigh would like to be adopted together  they are very attached to each other and are very hard to tell apart - they're almost identical! 

Emmy wears a collar so she can be easily distinguishable from her sister.  They love to romp, play, cuddle and sleep together and they're very attentive to humans - they had the best upbringing so they know that humans offer nothing but love, play and affection! 

On July 11, 2018, they received the best gift possible.  They were adopted to a wonderful lady and her husband in Fredericton Junction, and to sweeten the pot even MORE, their mom, Melanie (see above) got to go with them!  That is WONDERFUL!  Thanks, Emily!  We are so grateful!  We can't wait to see photos with their new family!!

"Rocco" came to us on March 9, 2018 from Holmesville where he was a stray who had sought refuge in some rolled-up carpet in the rafters of a building which had no door, so it was definitely not warm.  He had been observed eating bird food from underneath a feeder, so he was really hungry.  Rocco was born about March 15, 2013. 

Rocco was cold, hungry and scared.  He was slowly tempted toward the warmth of a house, but unfortunately this home was already full to the brim with rescued cats.  Rocco was slightly timid, but warmed up to humans very quickly once he realized he'd be warm, fed and safe for life.   As with all DunRoamin' cats, he is fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for all parasites.  He was already neutered when he arrived.  Rocco is the first to come greet us and he LOVES people of all ages.  He's got it made now - everything except a permanent loving family.  Please come meet him - you'll fall in love!

On July 4, 2018, Rocco was very happy to be chosen as a new friend for a family in Florenceville where he'll be a friend for one other cat and a dog.  Congratulations, Rocco!  Don't forget to write!!

"Abilene" came to us from the Bristol area on April 24, 2018.  She was born about March 9, 2018, so was only about seven weeks old.  She had been found on the side of a road where another kitten , probably a sibling, had already been struck and killed by a vehicle.

Abilene had an ulcer on her left eye which was cared for and has healed very well.  She also had an upper respiratory infection (cold) that was treated as well.  She is happy to be warm and safe and she particularly loves the fact that there seems to be an unending supply of food here - she's happy to put on a little weight.  She'd like to look and feel her best when she goes to her new home.  She is very energetic, playful and happy - who wouldn't be, now that she has everything  of which she'd ever dreamed!  She'll go live with her new family as soon as her vaccines are up to date!  She can't wait!  Neither can they!

On June 24, 2018, her new family drove all the way from Saint John to pick her up and we're not sure who was more excited - her or them!!!  We look forward to seeing lots of photos and hearing how well you're doing in your new home.  Write soon, Abilene!

"Valentino" came to us on February 14, 2018 from Bath where he had been found on a doorstep several weeks earlier.  He had sustained a small wound on his paw sometime previously and no one was able to care for him.

Upon examination, it was learned that Valentino had a small wound on his right front foot between his second and third digits which was almost healed.  He also had fleas and ear mites which were treated.  He was born about February 14, 2015.

Valentino is very well named.  He is definitely a lover and the Valentine holiday is his favourite.  His most favourite thing ever is to be cuddled and have his head rubbed!   If you're looking for a cuddle cat, he's definitely your boy!! 

On June 21, 2018, Valentino was adopted to a home in Hartland where he'll have lots of space to run and play and lots of people to cuddle with.  Congratulations, Valentino!  Don't forget to send photos of you and your new friends!!

"Dyson" and her sister Gentry came to us from the NBSPCA from the Grand Falls area on April 20, 2018, where they had allegedly been abused.  They were born about June 1, 2017 and were both healthy, but had no home or family to care for them.  Shelters had been approached, but none had space for them.  Their options were extremely limited and we could not allow anything bad to happen to them.  They were still so young and had not yet had the opportunity to experience the love of a caring family - everyone should experience that!  They were born about June 1, 2017.

Dyson and Gentry are very affectionate little girls. They look very much alike except that Gentry has more white on her chest and has white paws.  They are a beautiful tan/grey colour and they're both very quiet and especially loving.  They would like to have a home together, please, where they'd always be safe and loved.

Dyson and Gentry were proud to be part of Carleton North Senior High School's exam weeks from June 4 - 15, 2018, where they spread their love to students while they underwent examinations.  They had a wonderful time and would like to say, "Thanks for having us!"

On June 19, 2018, Dyson and Gentry were adopted by a family in Grafton.  We're so happy they get to stay together!  Congratulations, little ones!  Please send lots of photos and let us know all about your new family!

"Fozzie" and his sister "Kermit" came to us on April 28, 2018 from Stickney where they were found in a barn a couple of weeks previously.  They were not eating well and therefore were not thriving and needed help.  Thanks to a vet tech friend, they soon got all the help they needed. 

Fozzie and Kermit were born about March 28, 2018.  They received fluids and antibiotics to help them get better, and as of April 28, they were both sick but stable under medical care.  They continued to do well under the watchful and caring eye of a vet tech and they soon were both out of the woods.  Since they'd never been separated and were so attached to each other, they'd love to stay together.

On June 15, 2018, Fozzie and Kermit were adopted to a home in Woodstock where they'll have two other cat friends, including Oasis, a former DunRoamin' stray.  Congratulations to all!  Write soon, and send lots of photos!!

"Etsy" came to us on April 23, 2018 from Glassville where she, her sister Ikea and brother Amazon were found in the bottom of a potato barrel.  No mom was present and they were cold, dehydrated and hungry.   Her mom was part of a feral colony, but it appeared she had not been present for at least several hours and these kittens needed help.  They would not have survived much longer had they not been found by a caring supporter.  They needed her.

Etsy and her siblings were born about April 1, 2018, so were barely three weeks old. Thanks to the efforts of a kind vet tech, they are now safe, warm and content.  They had to be fed by bottle every few hours and stimulated to pee and poop every few hours as well, until they were old enough to take care of themselves.  Thanks to this vet tech, they now have the chance to have a whole new life where they'll be loved and cared for forever.  Thanks, Riley - you did great!  Again!

On June 15, 2018, Etsy went to live with a family in Hartland where she'll be spoiled all day and night.  And she even has a new canine friend who loves her!  Congratulations!  Please send lots of photos!!

Palmer, also FIV+, adopted on June 19, 2017!

** FIV is contagious to other cats through blood and saliva.  It is reasonably difficult to spread, however, and now believed to be mostly spread through deep bite wounds.  Obviously, it would be ideal if FIV-positive cats only lived with other FIV-positive cats, but currently some of the large rescue centers in the US have been studying multi-cat households with FIV-positive cats living with FIV-negative cats and have found the risk to the non-FIV cats to be very small, assuming that the cats are all spayed/neutered and used to living in groups (ie:  not as likely to fight).   Zdeno lived in a foster home with six other FIV- cats and there were absolutely no issues!  He was great with them!

"Mayella" and her three babies, Catticus Finch, Jem and Radley (all adopted), came to us on March 2, 2018 from Oakland, NB, where she and her babies were part of a large number of unspayed and unneutered cats who were living together.  Mayella's friend, Melanie and her four babies also came to us this same day.  We will help the remaining cats become spayed or neutered under our D-SNAP (DunRoamin' Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) so that many more kittens are not born to a place where there are already numerous homeless cats.  Donations to help cover these costs are welcome at Canada Helps.  Thank you.

Mayella was born about February 20, 2016.  Her ears were dirty, but she was otherwise healthy.  She is very friendly and affectionate and she is an amazing mom.  She appears to have some Siamese traits.  She was fostered by a very dedicated DunRoamin' supporter who was happy to have Mayella and her kittens in her home!  They very well cared for and are grateful for this chance to live in a caring foster home.

On June 10, 2018, Mayella was adopted by a very nice couple from Halifax.  She'll now have the life she wishes and deserves.  Congratulations, Mayella!  Don't forget to send lots of photos and tell us all how you're doing!  We can't wait to hear from you!

"Wainwright" came to DunRoamin' from the Woodstock area on October 1, 2017, a stray who had been seen in the area for about a month.  Recently he had been observed to be injured and had no one to care for him.  Wainwright had abscesses on his right front and right hind leg - those must have hurt!  He also had ear mites (not a pleasant experience).  He was born about March 1, 2016.

Wainwright was scared, of course, but when softly patted he soon relaxed and even purred a little.  It took him a very short time to realize that he was now safe and would have nothing but the best of care.  He quickly became a loving, head butting, playful and affectionate little boy!  We hope he can go to a warm, loving home so that he'll never have to experience the pain of injury or loneliness again. He lived with 12 other cats with whom he got along just fine!  He especially loves to play with kittens!

If you're looking for someone who is energetic, playful, loving, affectionate and enjoys the company of other cats, this is your boy!!

On June 10, 2018, Wainwright met the family of his dreams.  Renamed "Wind," he now lives in Keswick Ridge with Chyler, another ex-DunRoamin' cat and they're doing great!  Thanks to this family for bringing him into their loving home.  Congratulations, Wainwright!  Send lots of photos!!

"Abner" was returned to DunRoamin' on November 17, 2016 from the home in Bath where he had been adopted previously.  His owner had developed a medical problem and was no longer able to keep him.  Abner had sustained a recent injury to his right eye and his third eyelid was swollen and inflamed.  It was determined that his injury had become infected, so he was treated and was soon fine again.  As a matter of fact, he's perfect!

Abner was born about April 1, 2012 and is a grey tabby with a most exceptionally-loving personality.  He purrs, head butts and kneads constantly if a human is handy.  He loves to cuddle and be patted and he especially loves kittens.  He'd love to have another cat with whom to cuddle, too, if at all possible.

On June 6, 2018, Abner was adopted by a young lady in Florenceville where he'll be a new friend for her other cat, Grumbles.  Abner settled in immediately - he knows he's home!  He'll get lots of love and attention from the humans, as well as Grumbles and family dogs.  He loves them all!  Congratulations, Abner!

"Faux Paw" came to us on May 28, 2018 from the Woodstock area.  She had originally been found with a plastic bag tangled around her left hind leg and, unfortunately, it had caused such damage that her leg required amputation.  She was born about April 1, 2018 so was barely eight weeks old - just a baby.  That's a pretty rough start for such a tiny little one.

Faux Paw underwent surgery to remove her leg on May 29, 2018, and with her wonderful outlook on life, she's doing great.  She is otherwise healthy and happy - she's very playful and loving as well.  Thanks to the person who brought her for help - she'll have a great life, now that she has proper medical attention and a family that will do the very best possible to ensure she remains happy and healthy.

"Jem" came to us on March 2, 2018 from Oakland where he, his mom Mayella and siblings Radley and Catticus Finch were living in a place with numerous other cats.  Jem and his siblings had upper respiratory infections which could potentially be devastating to their health, but they were examined by their new vet and given all recommended treatments to ensure they became healthy again very soon.

Jem and his siblings Catticus Finch and Radley were born about February 20, 2018 and their eyes were just barely starting to open.  They made their foster mother smile every single minute!  Jem and his sister Radley would like to stay together - they're very close to each other.   They sleep in a kitten pile and play together constantly.

On May 25, 2018, Jem was so happy to be adopted to a wonderful home in Florenceville along with his sister, Radley (see below).  Congratulations, Jem, we're so happy for you both!  Don't forget to stay in touch and send photos so we can see you grow!

"Radley" came to us on March 2, 2018 from Oakland where she, her mom Mayella and siblings Jem and Catticus Finch were living in a place with numerous other cats.  Radley and her siblings had upper respiratory infections which could potentially be devastating to their health, but they were examined by their new vet and given all recommended treatments to ensure they were well again very soon.  Radley was very small - not much more than half the size of her siblings.  She received round-the-clock care by both her mom and foster mom who fed her by syringe to ensure she got the nutrition she required to grow big and strong like her brothers.

Radley and her brothers Catticus Finch and Jem were born about February 20, 2018 and they grew strong very quickly with the exceptional care they received.  Their foster mom is full of smiles just watching them!  Radley would like to be adopted with her brother, Jem, because they're very close and have never been without each other.  They are very loving and affectionate and Radley LOVES her brother.  They sleep together and play like the very best of friends.

On May 25, 2018, Radley was ecstatic to go to her new permanent home along with her brother Jem (see above) where they'll be spoiled beyond their wildest dreams!  Congratulations, Radley!  Send lots of family photos!

"Toad" came to us on February 27, 2018 from Perth-Andover.  One of several kittens born about February 13, 2018, Toad had such a large number of fleas that they had depleted the majority of his blood.  Toad was the only survivor and he required serious medical intervention to save his life.  He was fortunate to have been brought to us for help, as the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic is now very experienced at blood transfusions for baby kittens - Toad is the fourth kitten since July, 2017, to undergo five transfusions of blood from a dog to attempt to save their lives.  Of the previous three, only one did not survive - Vera.  You can read about her on our Pet Memorials page.  Cardi and Ecole are both very healthy and now live in wonderful permanent homes.

As of March 7, 2018, Toad was doing very well.  He was eating, playing and displaying cuteness on a very grand scale! He was fostered by a vet tech to ensure he got any and all round-the-clock care he required, but it looks like he's out of the woods!  Thanks, Jayme!  Toad has a small umbilical hernia which was easily fixed when he underwent his neuter.

On May 12, 2018, Toad met his new mother and father for the first time.  They had anxiously been awaiting that day when he'd be ready to go home, and this was the perfect, beautiful, sunny day for that to happen!  Toad now lives in New Bandon, NB, with Brenna, his new best cat friend who was adopted in January, 2018, as well as some canine brothers and his best new human friends.  Congratulations on your wonderful new family, Toad.  Please write often!

"Catticus Finch" came to us on March 2, 2018 from Oakland where he, his mom and siblings were living in a place with numerous other cats.  Catticus Finch and his siblings had upper respiratory infections which could potentially be devastating to their health, but they were examined by their new vet and given all recommended treatments to ensure they are well again very soon.

Catticus and his siblings Jem and Radley were born about February 20, 2018 and their eyes were just barely starting to open.  They're grateful to be in a wonderful foster home.  Catticus is by far the most outgoing, curious and active of all the kittens.  He's adorable!

On May 7, 2018, Catticus met the family that he is so excited to join.  He now lives in Darling's Island, NB with family which includes two young boys who will be his best friends.  Congratulations, Catticus!  Please send lots of photos!

"Mony" came to us on February 13, 2017 from the Woodstock area.  She was part of a colony of cats who were fortunate to have been accepted as part of DunRoamin's and PetSmart Charities of Canada's joint project to spay and neuter 150 cats in the Woodstock area to help reduce the number of cats born into an area already overrun with homeless cats.

Mony was born about April 13, 2017 and was terrified at the moment - wouldn't we all be?  While living on the streets she had sustained a broken right hind leg which will required surgery to remove the femoral head and neck.  She had also had a previously-broken pelvis and left hind leg which had already healed.  What a life she's had - all these injuries to deal with on her own, and she was not even a year old yet!

DunRoamin' ensured that she received the surgery she required to repair her hip, as well as full vaccinations and all other necessities to ensure she will be fine.  Donations to help with her care are very much welcome at Canada Helps, as well as other options on our Donate page.  Mony thanks everyone who has had a hand in helping change her entire world.  She'll be okay now.  One important thing to note:  Mony is NOT a fan of dogs, so would like to have a cats-only home.

On May 1, 2018, Mony was adopted by a lady in Woodstock who had tried to help her previously by feeding and providing shelter.  She will live safely and securely in the home of her new best friend where she'll be happy ever after.  Thank you.  Congratulations, Mony.

"Kyle"came to us on March 26, 2018 from Woodstock.  He had been part of our initiative with PetSmart Charities to spay and neuter 150 unowned cats.  Normally he would have been returned to his original home, but he is different - he has a condition known as cerebellar hypoplasia (CH).  This was most probably caused by exposure to a virus while still in the womb. Kyle appears to have a mild case of it - he's pretty much normal to look at, but when he gets excited his head begins to wobble, thus the term "wobble cat" arose.  In more severe cases, they have trouble walking and more or less "flop around."  This is not painful, nor is it a progressive condition - it's just the way they are!  Kyle was born about September 27, 2017.

Kyle is a very sweet and affectionate boy and he's completely normal, other than the fact that his head bobs when he gets excited.  He is loving and playful and he has no concept that he may be different from any other kitten.  He loves to be cuddled, patted and he loves to play with his toys.  He couldn't wait to meet a family that will love him for who he is and not see him as someone with a "disability" - he doesn't have one! 

On April 27, 2018, his dream came true.  Kyle now lives with a young couple in Greenfield where his new life began today.  He also has a new friend, Flanders (see below) who is about his age, so they'll grow up together in a loving home.  Thanks to his new family!  Congratulations, Kyle!!  Please write soon!

"Flanders" came to us on November 7, 2017 from the Grand Falls area.  He was extremely constipated and required medical assistance immediately.  He was born about October 4, 2017.  His vet determined that his bowels were impacted, probably as a result of his diet.  He was placed on a fibre diet to help his stool become normal. 

Flanders was soon doing much better.  He is a sweet little boy who received the best help possible and we're grateful that he is with us and able to receive this help, thanks to all the loyal supporters of DunRoamin'.  He is very grateful for the love and care of his team of caregivers.  He is a black kitten with a bit of brown mixed in which makes him very cute and unique!  He is especially loving.  And cute!  And adorable!  And sweet!

Flanders' favourite vet did a great job at helping him become healthy again.  He's had a rough go, but through it all has been loving, playful and affectionate.  He is very aware he has friends and knows he feels so much better!  He is an amazingly wonderful little kitten and we're happy to know him!  He underwent several procedures to correct his problems and he's now doing fine.  He is currently on stool softeners and he's doing very well.  He occasionally drops a piece of poop on the floor if he's been playing and forgets, but he's using the litter box, eating, peeing and playing with absolutely no problem!

Flanders is named for Flanders Fields in which ". . . poppies blow, between the crosses, row on row . . ."  This poem was written by Canadian Col John McCrae on May 3, 1915, during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium, to honour his best friend, one of many lost during World War I.  They will not be forgotten . . .

On April 27, 2018, Flanders was adopted by a young couple from Greenfield where he'll have the best life ever!  And to sweeten the experience, Kyle (see above) got to go with him as a friend and playmate!  Congratulations!  Don't forget to write and send photos!!

"Dale" came to us on March 24, 2018 from Florenceville.  Dale was originally believed to be a female who had been treated for fleas, but such was not the case.  Dale is a little boy who was born about January 27, 2018, and he was laden with fleas.  Dale's new owner was not able to keep him.

Along with having fleas, Dale was hypothermic (low body temperature).  He was quickly given the medical assistance he required and was fostered by a vet tech to ensure he remained healthy.  He has been fully vaccinated, neutered, tested for FIV, tested for FeLV, treated for parasites, given a healthy and nutritious diet and treated with the love and care that he deserves.  It took him only a short time to become happy, healthy and even cuter than before!

On April 21, 2018, Dale was adopted by a very nice young couple from Carlow where he'll enjoy the company of his new family which includes a dog with whom he's already best friends!  Congratulations, Dale!  Thanks to your mom and dad for adopting you and for volunteering to help all your friends!

 

"Avril" and her brother "Nickleby" came to us on March 31, 2018 from the Lansdowne area where someone noticed some boxes on the side of the road, one of which they discovered contained Avril and her brother Nickleby.  They were unable to keep or care for them.

Avril and Nickelby were born about March 31, 2017.  Avril is petite and very sweet.  She is spayed, fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and treated for all parasites, as are all DunRoamin' cats.  She displayed a minor heart murmur, but we suspect it was just due to the stress of her new situation.  Both she and Nickelby are loving and affectionate - obviously had a home and family before they were abandoned on the side of the road.  They love each other and their dream is to be able to stay together.

On April 16, 2018, their dream came true when they met a young man with whom they fell in love.  They are very fortunate to call him family now and are grateful for their new home in Florenceville.  Thanks for keeping them together.  Please don't forget to send lots of photos.  We'll miss you both!

"Welsh" came to us on February 9, 2018 from the Perth-Andover area where she was rescued by a kind RCMP officer who observed that she had severe and untended medical issues.  Welsh had ear mites, was very much underweight, very hungry, had way too many fleas and was dehydrated, but her biggest problem was her rectal prolapse.  This is the protrusion of the inner layers of the rectum through the anus, leaving some of the rectum outside the body.  This is often the result of straining to defecate or urinate (perhaps caused by a virus or worms) and Welsh's condition was one of the worst we've seen.  Welsh was born about November 1, 2017, so was just a baby.  She is forever grateful to the compassionate RCMP officer who ensured she had a chance at this new life.

Upon arrival at FVC, Welsh was immediately assessed and taken to surgery where her vet repaired her rectum.  She also had bladder stones which were removed once she was healthy.  Welsh thanks Dr Monteith for her concerned and immediate action upon her arrival for medical care as well as her surgical skill in ensuring that she had the best chance possible for her new life which began this day.  Her prognosis is good and she's already eating like she'd never had food before, purring and head butting like nobody's business!  She loves people and is extremely cuddly and affectionate.  She rushes the kennel door to greet her new friends and can't begin to express her gratitude enough!  She is a real sweetheart and we're sure, with the great care she's received at FVC, that she's gonna be just fine! 

On April 11, 2018, Welsh was beside herself with joy!  Today she went to her new home and family.  She now lives in Stickney with her new feline brother, two human servants and five DunRoamin' foster cats!  She'll be running the house soon!  Congratulations, Welsh!  Thanks, Katrina!

"Poe" came to us on February 23, 2018 from the Oakland area where he had been living in a trailer but had no longer been wanted, so was delivered to a lady who discovered that he had a problem on his belly.  She was unable to provide the medical care required.  Poe was born about February 23, 2017.

Examination by Poe's new vet at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic revealed that he had fleas, ear mites and an umbilical hernia (protrusion of the abdominal lining) on his belly.  He underwent surgery to repair this and he's now fine!  He's neutered, fully vaccinated and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Poe is a very quiet, kind and affectionate little gentleman.  If you're looking for a loving and attentive companion, he could very well be your boy!

On April 11, 2018, Poe met a very nice lady from Somerville who thought he would be the perfect addition to her home.  Poe now has his very own family which includes a 7-year-old boy who is totally smitten with him, and vice versa.  Congratulations, Poe!  Don't forget to send photos and tell us how wonderful your new life is in Somerville!!

"Waif" came to DunRoamin' on January 3, 2017 from Centreville where she had been hanging out around an apartment building where pets were not allowed.   No one was able to help her and she had supposedly been injured. Temperatures those days were around -25*C - not a good time for anyone to be outdoors.

Waif was examined at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic and found to be in decent shape - the injury was an old healed one.  She was treated for ear mites and tested negative for both FIV and FeLV and was spayed on January 8, 2017.  She is very grateful to be warm and have a soft bed and consistent nutritious food in her belly.  She's most grateful for the heat, though, and thanks us at every opportunity with head butts, purrs and loving gazes.  Waif is only about a year old, born about January 3, 2017.  She is friendly and affectionate and cannot wait to have her own family. 

On April 10, 2018, Waif was adopted to a wonderful home in Limestone, NB, where she will spend the rest of her life in a happy, loving environment.  To make things even better, Leila (see below) was also invited to go along, so they'll each always have feline company, as well as humans.  Congratulations!!

"Leila" came to us from Jacksonville on March 12, 2018.  She was a stray who had originally been found in Woodstock and was taken to Jacksonville but the only shelter there was an outbuilding.  She had no warm place to live and her life had been threatened as no one wanted her.

Leila is calm, quiet, and an affectionate and loving little girl.  She happily accepted a warm bed and food and seemed grateful to settle in to a safe environment.  Leila was born about October 1, 2017, so is still just a kitten.  She was found to be thin and had tapeworms and ear mites, both of which were immediately treated.  She is spayed and completely up to date on all her vaccines.  She hopes to have a safe, warm, loving home!!  Please come meet her!

On April 10, 2018, Leila met and fell in love with a lady from Limestone, NB, and they both decided they would like to be family.  And to make it even nicer, Waif (see above) went along with her so that she'd always have lots of company and someone to play and snuggle with when her human family isn't home!  Congratulations!!

"Zima" came to us on January 28, 2018 from Woodstock where she was found outside Guardian Drugs on Main Street.  She was injured, didn't want to move or eat and needed help.  A DunRoamin' guardian angel quickly collected her to ensure she received medical care and kept her warm and safe overnight until she could make her way to us.

Zima (Russian for "winter") was born about January 28, 2015.  She was overweight and already spayed, so has belonged to someone at some time.  She had fleas which were treated and abrasions on her face (probably the result of having been struck by a vehicle) which were already healing.  Part of her lip was torn but was also healing.  On top of the fleas and injuries, she's also had to deal with the cold temperatures (approximately -25*C), so she's happy to be safe, warm, fed and cared for.  She is very affectionate and loves to have her belly rubbed, although it originally took her a moment to remember that she was safe and that all people she'll now meet will be good to her.  She is a real sweetheart and is ready for a loving home!

On April 6, 2018, she got the best present ever when she was adopted to a home in Tracey Mills, NB. Just one of the great things about that was the fact that Lazer (see below) got to join this family also, so now they're sisters!  It took them no time at all to settle in and soon were purring loudly and sleeping on the couch as if they'd always lived there!  Congratulations!  Thanks, Sarah, for adopting these two girls.  We're happy they have a home together!

"Laser" came to us on February 10, 2018 from the Jacksonville area where she had been found alone on the road.  She was skinny, cold and had infected bite wounds on her belly.  The pads of all four feet were badly injured, most probably from frostbite, and she was in pain from trying to walk on them.  Laser was born about August 10, 2016.

Laser has the best of medical care which included pain medication to make her comfortable and antibiotics to combat the infection in her wounds.  She happily kneaded and purred in her new vet's arms to show her appreciation for the care she's getting and the new life she has begun today.  She is very happy to have a warm, soft bed and lots of nutritious food.  It's been very cold out there for a little cat and we're glad she's DunRoamin'.   She happily lived with a half-dozen other cat friends until . . .

. . . April 6, 2018 when she was adopted to a home in Tracey Mills, NB.  As a bonus for her, she got to meet Zima, a very nice DunRoamin' cat with whom she became friends in a matter of minutes.  They happily took over the couch within the first ten minutes of being in their new home!  Congratulations!  Thanks, Sarah, for giving them a home and family!

"Yonder" and her best friend Bianca (see below) came to DunRoamin' on March 7, 2018 from the Woodstock area where they were unable to stay in their home due to circumstances beyond their control.  Yonder has beautiful white fur and is thought to be a Persian.  Other than her best friend Bianca, she does not enjoy other cats or dogs and insists that she be adopted only to a home with Bianca!  Yonder was born about July 13, 2012 and has one green and one blue eye - she's beautiful!

Yonder required a dental cleaning but was otherwise healthy.  She had some matted fur that had to be shaved, but it's already growing back in and she's beautiful!  She will require frequent brushing, but she's very happy with that!

On April 6, 2018, Yonder was adopted to the home of a very nice lady in New Maryland who loves her already, and vice versa.  Congratulations, Yonder.  And we're very happy to add that your best friend, Bianca, got to go along with you! Thanks for keeping these two best friends together!

"Bianca" came to DunRoamin' on March 7, 2018 from the Woodstock area where she was no longer able to stay in her home due to circumstances unrelated to her.  Bianca was born about July 13, 2015 and appears to be a Persian with beautiful long white fur.  Bianca is especially attached to her best friend, Yonder (see above), and says she doesn't want to go to a new home unless Yonder can come too and there can be no other pets with whom they might be required to share their human's attention!

Bianca is a beautiful little girl.  She was spayed, had some gingivitis and tartar which required some of her teeth to be removed and she is doing well.  She was also shaved but will soon require frequent brushing and she's happy with that!  She's looking forward to a new home with her friend Yonder.

On April 6, 2018, she got her wish.  She and Yonder were adopted to a home in New Maryland where they'll live happily ever after.  They both thank all those who had a hand in making sure they got the life of which they are so deserving.  Congratulations to them and thanks to their new family!

"Chyler" and her sisters Bliss and Trickle all came to DunRoamin' on November 18, 2015 from Grand Falls, NB.  The people who had them requested that they be euthanized because they were too wild.  These three little girls were just babies, only about three  and a half months old, born about August 1, 2015.

All three were in decent health, although they were slightly skinny and had fleas.  Their parasites were treated and they got lots of healthy food so they could put on some weight.  They were initially scared, but a little love and compassion went a long way and they soon accepted that they were among friends.  Chyler has come a long way.  She has the most BEAUTIFUL green eyes!  She now enjoys a good pat and cuddle as much as anyone!  She's looking forward to one day having a home and family of her very own.

On April 2, 2018, that day finally arrived when she met a family from Keswick Ridge who fell in love with her and she fell in love with them as well.  It's been a long wait, but it's worth it!!  She will be the newest best friend of two young children, as well as DunRoamin' cats Prentiss and Garcia who were adopted in 2014!  And . . . Chyler's best friend Lotus (see above) got to go, too!!  Congratulations!!!  Thanks for giving these two little girls a wonderful home!  

"Andover" came to us from Andover on September 19, 2017.  He had an injury to his left shoulder which resulted in the skin and fur being removed in a palm-sized area.  He was already neutered upon arrival.  He was born about September 19, 2014.

Andover is super friendly.  He likes being picked up and cuddled and will purr for chin rubs and ear scratches!  He can also be a talker when the mood hits him!  His wound is well healed and he's waiting for that family he's always dreamed of. 

On March 29, 2018, his dream came true when a couple from Gordonsville fell in love with him, and vice versa.  He now lives with them and their small terrier-mix dog.  Congratulations, Andover!  Don't forget to write!

"Lois" came back to us on May 2, 2017.  She originally came to us on July 25, 2012 from Lakeville, NB, where she was discovered in the middle of a paved road.  She was disoriented and required help.  It was learned that she had cataracts on both eyes, so she could not see exactly where she was.  Lois was born about August 9, 2002.

Lois was adopted to a family in Plaster Rock, NB on September 1, 2012, where she lived happily, but due to circumstances beyond her control, she she came back to DunRoamin' to find a nice family to offer her a quiet home for her remaining years.  Although she cannot see, she learns to find her way around very quickly and sometimes it's easy to forget that she is blind.  She acclimatizes quickly and is soon wandering around on her own very confidently.  She is very loving and affectionate and especially loves men.  She likes to sleep on the bed with her human so she can be close to them.  She also will put her paws on your knees to ask to be picked up and hugged.  She is so sweet!

Lois requires medication daily for her eyes, but she takes it easily, knowing how it helps her.  She loves canned food and she gets as much as she wants!  She loves everyone and everyone loves her!

On March 24, 2018, Lois joined a wonderful family in New Maryland where she is spoiled to her heart's delight with toys, play, friends - you name it!  She sleeps on her human's bed (or chest, or head!) and the only time she's not purring is when she's sleeping!  It took her no time at all to acclimatize to her new home and she loves her new cat friends who include DunRoamin's Derp who was adopted on August 26, 2017.  Thanks to her new family for taking her in.  We miss you Lois, and look forward to your updates! 

"Emerson" came to DunRoamin' on December 16, 2016 from Woodstock.  He had been left to fend for himself when the people who had been caring for him for several years moved from the area.  The temperature was -35*C that day including wind chill and the gentleman who brought him could not see him left out alone.  Neighbours in the area were not able to take him in and the shelters were all full.  So were we, but we couldn't see him left outdoors alone in these freezing temperatures - he wouldn't have lasted long, and he'd have had a very hard time of it.

Emerson was examined by his vet at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic and he appeared to be in decent shape.  He was born about December 15, 2008, so he was about eight years old and was already neutered.

We're glad you are warm and safe, Emerson.  Thanks to the gentleman who made this possible and for the donation he left to help with your care.

On March 20, 2018 (the first day of spring and the first day of his brand new life!) Emerson met a lady from Rosedale and her Golden Retriever, Wilson.  All three immediately bonded with each other and now Emerson is the newest member of their family.  He is very happy to have this wonderful present!  Congratulations, Emerson!  Send lots of photos!!

"Boone" was returned to us on December 22, 2017, from Woodstock where his family was unable to undertake his care due to personal reasons.  Boone is a very nice boy who was born about October 21, 2013 and has been waiting for that perfect home since he came to us on April 21, 2015.

Due to the fact that his body does not process some food well and tends to develop crystals in his urine, he must eat a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food only.  We have had dozens of cats on this diet and have had no recurrence of problems once they are eating this food only.

Boone is an extremely affectionate cat.  He loves to be with people and will follow you around from room to room to ensure he always has people to whom he can express his love of life!  While on his prescription diet he has experienced absolutely no problems whatsoever!  Thanks, Royal Canin, for your S/O food!  We hope for a family for Boone - he really would love to know the security and love of a permanent home. 

On March 12, 2018, our hopes and dreams for Boone came true - his, too!  He met a very nice lady from Meductic who fell head over heels for him - and his best friend Sheldon, too (see below)!!  This is his ultimate dream - someone who will love him forever!  Congratulations, Boone!  Write very soon and tell us all about your wonderful new life!

"Sheldon" came back to DunRoamin' on December 22, 2017 from the Fredericton area as he had started to mark furniture.  This usually indicates a medical problem, most of which are very minor in nature and can be easily addressed.  Sheldon was placed on antibiotics and was reassessed five days later which showed that he was just fine - the antibiotics had done their work and he's perfectly healthy once again!  He has not offered to do anything other than be a perfect little boy!

Sheldon was born about March 20, 2014 and is happy to have a warm place to reside, cat and human friends and a chance at the life a loving cat deserves.  His most heartfelt dream was to be adopted to a home where he'll be spoiled rotten!  Isn't that all cats' wish? Sheldon was originally diagnosed with a urinary problem which is easily defeated with a diet of Royal Canin Urinary S/O food to ensure he does not block.  He and his best friend Boone (see above) both eat this diet.  We've had dozens of cats who have been placed on Royal Canin Urinary S/O food and we have never once had a recurrence!  It works great!!

On March 12, 2018, Sheldon met a lady who fell in love with him, and he with her!  He now lives in Meductic with his new family which includes two older female cats and a dog.  And to make it even better, his best friend Boone got to go along, too!  Yahoooooooo!  Congratulations to all!

"Bristle" and her siblings Pounce, Blitz and Breeze came to us on January 9, 2014  from the Perth-Andover area and were loving cats who had been through a lot.  Blitz and Breeze were adopted, and sadly, Pounce passed away on December 30, 2017.  You can read about him on our Pet Memorials page.  They were born about January 1, 2013.  They were all scared and confused, but became accepting of love, hugs and pats.  Bristle was easily the most outgoing and she loved to be patted, picked up and cuddled.  She really misses her brother, Pounce, with whom she cuddled constantly.  On January 20, 2018, she was happy to have Peace join her (see above) because they quickly became best friends and she was happy to cuddle with her, even though she will never forget her brother, Pounce.  Neither will we.

Bristle has been waiting for a home for more than four full years.  She went to a new home on February 2, 2018, but came back to us on March 2 because she was not comfortable in the home with dogs and it was a more active environment than one that she enjoys.  She loves other cats, loves to just sit and be cuddled and she loves kittens.   She would just like to have a quiet home and family of her own where she can live happily ever after.  One or two other cats would be okay, but the hustle and bustle of a loud and busy home is not in her comfort zone.

On March 7, 2018, Bristle met a couple from Florenceville who thought they might be the perfect fit for Bristle.  And their love and generosity for animals made them want to make sure Bristle was as happy as she could possibly be, so they invited Peace to join their family also!  Thank you SO much!  Congratulations to everyone!  Please stay in touch - we can't wait to hear about your new life!!

"Venture" came to us on February 9, 2017 from the Beechwood area where she had been abandoned in the dooryard of a gentleman the previous evening. He brought her inside to ensure she was warm and safe, but was unable to undertake her care. 

Venture is a very sweet little kitten who was born about June 9, 2017.  She is unique in that the majority of orange tabbies are said to be male, but she is a beautiful little female who is very affectionate, playful and loving.  She loves to play with other cats and quickly accepts a game of Chase The Mouse with a human, too!  She is a real sweetheart!

On March 5, 2018, a lady and gentleman from Florenceville attended DunRoamin' to find a friend for their cat as his best friend had recently passed away.  Venture decided that she was the cat for their family, and that's the end of that story!  She chose them and they are very happy with her decision!  Thanks for giving her the perfect home - she's a very lucky little kitten!  Congratulations to everyone!

"Holly" originally came to us on August 11, 2007 from the Perth-Andover area, one of six kittens who needed help.  She was adopted out along with her sister, Violet, on December 6, 2007 to Perth-Andover where they lived happily.  However, due to family circumstances, they returned to us on July 21, 2017.

Holly and Violet are beautiful cats who were born about September 21, 2007.   They both had some difficulty with the transition to our location and were unwilling to eat as much as we wished to ensure their health, but soon overcame that difficulty and are very loving and affectionate cats.  Holly is very healthy, but due to dental issues must eat a diet of Royal Canin Dental food to ensure her dental health remains at a high standard.

On February 17, 2018, a young lady travelled from Fredericton to meet our cats and Holly ensured that she was the one chosen!  She was her beautiful self - loving and affectionate, and the young lady was overwhelmed with her sweetness!  Holly now is a Fredericton resident where she will ingratiate herself to the remainder of the family in no time flat!  Congratulations, Holly, to you and your new family!  Please write very soon - we all miss you and can't wait to see photos of you and your family!

"Brittany" was mothering several kittens who were only about 16 days old.  She, her friend Anwick who has since been adopted and several of these kittens came to us on August 18, 2017 from the Perth area as they had no one who was able to take care of them..  Anwick and Brittany were both skinny and their babies had so many fleas that they were anaemic.  Several other kittens from that location had already died.  Anwick's and Brittany's kittens were only about 16 days old.  Unfortunately, three of the babies, Thurso, Kintyre and Glasgow, were unable to survive, despite medical intervention.  We thank the vet techs who cared for them and gave their all to help them.  You can read about these three kittens on our Pet Memorials page.

Five kittens were cared for by Brittany.  When needed, their food intake was augmented by syringe feedings by their new foster mother.  They were weighed daily to ensure they gained weight and they all did well.  All kittens eventually received loving homes.  Brittany waited patiently for her turn.  Brittany was born about August 18, 2016 and is a tiny little girl who loves people and other cats immensely.  She loves to rub against her human and is very happy to have lots of attention. 

On February 16, 2018, Brittany met a very nice young lady from Rusagonis who invited her to join her family.  Brittany now lives with her new family which includes a feline sister.  Congratulations, Brittany!  Please send lots of photos and let us know how wonderful your new life is!

"Acacia" came to DunRoamin' on May 15, 2017 from the Holmesville area.   She had had kittens, one of whom did not survive.  Her surviving kitten, Tetris, who has since been adopted, came with her for help.  Acacia had a bad upper respiratory infection and required some dental work but both have been addressed and she's now perfectly happy.  She was born about May 16, 2015.

Acacia is a shy little girl who loves nothing more than to be patted.  She is not a fan of being picked up and carried around, but she will certainly love to curl up beside you for some serious snuggle time.  She initially took some time to warm up to her foster mother, but she's really come out of her shell since she realized that she's warm, safe and loved.  She loves to play with her feather toy and especially enjoys fresh catnip from the garden!   Acacia was invited to live in a foster home on May 15, 2017 and has lived there ever since where she enjoyed the company of two wonderful humans and several dogs and other cats, including Andy, another ex-DunRoamin' kitty.  She loved this home, and this home loved her, so . . .

. . . on February 3, 2018, it was made official!  Acacia is now a permanent family member, and she couldn't be more excited!  She will live here forever with the people who love her most in the entire world!  Congratulations, Acacia.  Make sure you continue to tell your mom how much she is appreciated!  Send lots of photos!

"Douglas Furr" came to DunRoamin' on the morning of December 22, 2017, along with his mother, Sleigh, from the Jacksonville area where they had been striving to survive for at least two months.  A lady was providing food and water, but could not provide warm shelter, and the temperatures had been below -25^C recently.  Douglas Furr was immediately examined by his new vet and diagnosed with upper respiratory infection, tartar on his teeth, fleas, and he was intact.  He received the best of medical care to combat all these afflictions.  He has been neutered and received all required medications and he's now doing just fine.  He loves his squeaky mouse which he enjoys dunking in his water dish!  He has been fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and was neutered.

Douglas Furr is happy to be warm and safe.  He gratefully accepts his food and warm bed and is also accepting of pats, cuddles and scratches.  It's been very cold out there and he's happy to be safe and warm at last.  He was born about December 22, 2014.  It's about time he had a family!!  Douglas Furr's most favourite thing in the entire world is to have his belly rubbed!  If you're someone who can dedicate several hours a day to doing just this, Douglas would be in heaven!  But he'd also be happy to have a few short rubs a few times daily, also!  He has beautiful large eyes and they radiate gratefulness. When he's really happy, he sticks his tongue out!  He is a real sweetheart! 

On February 3, 2018, a young lady from Fredericton arrived at DunRoamin'.  She had seen his beautiful photo on this website and had fallen in love.  When they met in person, it was even better!  Douglas Furr happily shared his favourite squeaky mouse with her and cuddled in her arms.  He now lives in Fredericton where he'll be spoiled for the rest of his life!  Send photos, Douglas!  We can't wait to hear from you! 

"Nicolette" came to us on the afternoon of September 5, 2017 from the Houlton Road area behind Canada Bread in Woodstock where she was a stray who was trying to survive on her own.  She wasn't doing such a great job, as she had an injury to her hind leg and, in addition to a large number of parasites, she was starving and emaciated.  She was born about January 5, 2017.

Nicolette's injury was treated at the Florenceville Vet Clinic, she was given lots of nutritious food and provided with all additional medical necessities.  She was spayed and vaccinated as soon as she was healthy.  Nicolette is very loving, attentive and friendly, so we suspect that she has had her own home and family at one point in her life, but has had no one to care for her for quite some time, resulting in her poor condition.  It appears that she is going to stay a tiny cat in stature, but her personality is huge.  She loves other cats, people and especially enjoys children.

UPDATE:  As of January 12, 2018, Nicolette is doing very well.  She's put on weight with all the constantly-available food and she's very relaxed and loving.  She is very tiny for her age and feels light as a feather when picked up - which she loves!  She'll do anything for a cuddle. 

On February 3, 2018, she met a family who had seen her on this website and fallen in love.  She loved all three of their young children, and all three children loved her!  She now lives in Upper Kingsclear with her new humans and new canine and feline friends.  Congratulations, Nicolette!  Please write soon!  We'll all miss you!

"Bristle," Pounce, Blitz and Breeze came to us on January 9, 2014  from the Perth-Andover area and were loving cats who had been through a lot.  Blitz and Breeze were adopted, and sadly, Pounce passed away on December 30, 2017.  Bristle is still waiting for a home.  They were born about January 1, 2013.  They were all scared and confused, but became accepting of love, hugs and pats.  Bristle was easily the most outgoing and she loved to be patted, picked up and cuddled.  She really misses her brother, Pounce, with whom she cuddled constantly.  On January 20, she was happy to have Peace join her because they quickly became best friends and she happy to cuddle with her, event though she will never forget her brother, Pounce.

Bristle has been waiting for a home for more than four full years.  She loves other cats, loves to just sit and be cuddled and she loves kittens.   Bristle has been waiting a long time.  She would just like to have a home and family of her own where she can live happily ever after.

On February 2, 2018, Bristle finally received the gift for which she had been waiting for such a long time - a family.  And not just any family.  The perfect family!  She and her new best friend, Peace (see below) were invited to join this family in Elmwood which already included several ex-DunRoamin' cats and dogs.  We are so grateful to them for giving a home to Bristle and Peace.  Thank you!  Stay in touch, Bristle!  We'll miss you!

"Peace" was returned to us on January 20, 2018 because she had bitten her owner while she was brushing her.  Peace originally came to us on November 4, 2016, when she was live-trapped at an abandoned home in Hartland where she was trying to survive on her own.  Several other cats were also rescued from this location, including Escobar, Juan and Pablo who have since been adopted..

Peace was initially very timid but soon learned to trust us.  She loves kids and was named "Peace" due to the grey and white markings on the back of her head which form a peace sign.  She was born about May 9, 2015.

Peace was timid on her first day back with us, as expected, but quickly accepted pats and ear scratches.  We have brushed out her matts and she has relaxed very quickly.  We're sure she'll be fine - especially since she's made a new friend with Bristle - they cuddle together constantly.  If you like long-haired, beautiful, green-eyed cats, please come meet her - you'll fall in love!  She is very affectionate once she gets to know you, and she especially seems to like young children!

On February 2, 2018, we were happy to announce that Peace has received the best gift EVER!  She is now the newest family member of a wonderful lady in Elmwood where she will live happily ever after with her humans and her new ex-DunRoamin' canine and feline siblings!  And guess what??  Her best friend, Bristle (see above) got to go with her, too!!  Thank you SO much to their new family!  It was a long wait, Bristle, but it'll definitely be worth it!

"Noir" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood with his mom and five siblings.  They were at least the second litter born to Brenna (see above), an unspayed cat who had no one to care for her or her family.  The kittens were born about October 31, 2017.  Noir has one brother, Coal, and four sisters, Keera, Coraline, Tarot and Kellas.

Noir has a white mustache, greyish legs and white on his feet.  He weighed only 10 ounces upon arrival, but he plans on becoming a big, strong, loving and handsome boy.  As of January 10, he weighed two pounds and five ounces, so he's making good on his plans!!  Noir is very playful and loves to sleep on his back so that you can take the opportunity to rub his belly.  He instantly purrs when you do that!

The kittens have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and will be ready for homes the end of January, 2018.  They're very excited to join their family, but they'll miss their foster mom, too.  Thanks, Katrina, for all you've done for them!

On January 31, 2018, Noir met his new family which included a very nice young lady and her younger brother.  Noir will join their family in Fredericton where he'll have his very own humans, as well as canine and feline family members.  Congratulations, Noir!  Send photos soon!!

"Keera" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood with her mom and five siblings.  They were at least the second litter born to Brenna, an unspayed mother.  They had no one to care for them.  The kittens were born about October 31, 2017.  Keera has two brothers, Coal and Noir, and three sisters, Tarot, Coraline and Kellas.

Keera has three white feet, white on her chin and a white sock on her right hind leg.  She weighed 12 ounces upon her arrival. Keera is very adverturous and loves to climb.  She also loves to be held, and will purr instantly when she realizes she's about to get some attention!

The kittens have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and will be ready for homes the end of January, 2018.  They're very excited to join their family, but they'll miss their foster mom, too.  Thanks, Katrina, for all you've done for them!

"Kellas" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood with his mom and five siblings.  They were at least the second litter born to Brenna, an unspayed mother.  They had no one to care for them.  The kittens were born about October 31, 2017.  Kellas has two brothers, Coal and Noir, and three sisters, Tarot, Coraline and Keera.

Kellas is all black with a little bit of grey between his hind legs.  He weighed in at only 10 ounces!  He loves to be held and likes to play with your feet.  He is most content when he gets to sleep on his foster mother's legs.

The kittens have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and will be ready for homes the end of January, 2018.  They're very excited to join their family, but they'll miss their foster mom, too.  Thanks, Katrina, for all you've done for them!

"Coraline" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood with her mom and five siblings.  They were at least the second litter born to Brenna, an unspayed mother.  They had no one to care for them.  The kittens were born about October 31, 2017.  Coraline has two brothers, Coal and Noir, and three sisters, Tarot, Kellas and Keera.

Coraline is mostly black with white front paws, white socks on her back legs and white on her chin and chest.  She weighed 12 ounces upon arrival.  She is very curious and sniffs EVERYTHING - gotta know what you're getting into!!

The kittens have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV and will be ready for homes the end of January, 2018.  They're very excited to join their family, but they'll miss their foster mom, too.  Thanks, Katrina, for all you've done for them!

On January 28, 2018, Coraline was so happy to join her new family in Burton, NB.  This family also includes Vimy, another DunRoamin' kitten (see below) who was adopted on January 12, 2019.  We'd like to thank this family for giving both these little kittens a wonderful home.  Please send lots of photos!  We can't wait to see how you grow!!

"Hotchner" originally came to us on October 5, 2013 from Woodstock where he was a member of a colony of cats where he weighed only about one third the weight of his siblings.  He was failing to thrive and needed help badly.  He was born about August 15, 2013 and was sick, underweight, had an eye infection and way too many fleas.  He required veterinary care for two months before he was healthy enough to start his new life.  He was adopted on December 12, 2013, to a family in Florenceville.  Unfortunately, health issues in the family required that he be returned to us to find a new home on October 25, 2017.

Hotchner loves schedules.  He likes a treat, breakfast and fresh water first thing in the morning, accompanied by conversation and lots of head butts while you and he play with his toys - he especially loves his mousie and fishie.  He loves to be talked to and played with.  He's not a huge cuddler, but loves to be around people.  Sometimes kids are a bit too loud for him, but he loves quieter people.  He prefers that his treats be broken in half, because he loves them so much he practically inhales them!   He is not a fan of canned food, but enjoys his dry food. 

On January 20, 2018, Hotchner finally got to meet a young lady who had fallen in love with him from afar.  They hit it right off, and Hotch now lives in Moncton!  Congratulations, Hotch!  Make sure you send us photos really soon!

"Marvel" originally came to us on December 6, 2013 from Woodstock where she had been found by people who soon realized that she was not able to eat.  She was brought for veterinary care and it was learned that she had a large ulcer in the back of her throat.  This was treated immediately and she was soon eating fine and putting on weight.  Marvel was born about July 6, 2013.

Marvel was adopted on January 18, 2014 to a home in Florenceville where she lived happily with her new brother Hotchner (see above), but due to unfortunate medical issues in her home, she was returned to us on October 25, 2017.  Marvel is happy, healthy, playful and loving.  She was timid at first, but warmed up quickly and she's doing very well.  She is full of love and spunk and loves long cuddles on your lap or rolling on her belly to get attention and belly scratches.  Marvel prefers dry food as opposed to canned food, and she loves her Temptations treats. 

On January 20, 2018, Marvel met a lady from Rusagonis, NB, who fell completely head over heals for her.  She is grateful to have a new family and will show her gratitude daily - just watch her!!  Congratulations to you and your new family, Marvel!  Send photos!!

"Snowdon"  came to us on November 24, 2017 from Bath where she was found in a box in the rafters of a garage.  Her mom, Lotus (see above) had been rescued two days earlier and when her rescuer realized she still might have kittens, went looking for these little ones.  Snowdon and her siblings, Sleet, Slippy, Blanc, Frostine and Hail were born about October 27, 2017.  When found, they were living (and had probably been born) in a box in the rafters of a garage.  They had been without their mom to keep them warm, feed them, or stimulate them to pee and poop for at least two days, so they really needed help. They had fleas which were treated.

Snowdon is black with four white paws and a white mustache.  She is extremely cute.  All her siblings have been adopted and she's still waiting for her turn.  Please come meet her - she's lonely for a family!

On January 19, 2018, Snowdon met a nice lady from Fredericton and they hit it off royally!  Snowdon is now her newest family member!  And she LOVES shopping day!

"York" came to DunRoamin' on November 19, 2017 from the Hartland area where she had been found under a deck.  She was not in good shape.  The gentleman who found her had to remove part of his deck to extricate her as she was not ambulatory.  It is suspected that she was the victim of an animal attack at least several days previous.  She was very fortunate to be found and brought for help. York was born about November 19, 2015.

York had a high fever, her circulation was poor in her back legs and several sections of dead skin eventually sloughed off.  Her right hind leg was broken and she had several puncture marks on her legs.  Her kidneys were a concern at first, but we now know that they're fine.  She was given antibiotic medication and IV fluids.  In a few days, York was eating, peeing and pooping on her own - a good sign.  She purrs and loves attention and is particularly grateful for the care she received from her new friends.  She is grateful to know that she will have a home when her medical treatment is completed.  Thanks to her rescuer and thanks to her future adopter.  She is a very fortunate little girl.

As of January 12, 2018, York was doing very well.  She loves attention and affection and will readily return both.  She easily moves herself where she wants to go by walking on her front legs and pulling herself along.  She is very happy, healthy and pain-free.  Next step:  HOME and FAMILY!!

On January 18, 2018, York  took her next step when her family arrived to take her home.  This family includes three cats, one of whom is DunRoamin', and a young boy and girl who are very excited to have her.  Congratulations, York.  You are a very fortunate girl to have been found and taken in by such a great family.  Send us lots of photos!

 

"Vu" was born on October 24, 2017 to Deja, a pregnant stray who came to us as an SPCA seizure the previous day.  Her two sisters, Reagan and Valla, unfortunately did not survive.  Vu was in danger as well, but thanks to medical intervention and a caring vet tech foster mom, she progressed well.

Vu's foster mother had to monitor her health, temperature, food intake, etc, and feed and stimulate her to pee and poop every two hours around the clock for the first several weeks, since Vu's mother had displayed a lack of interest in caring for her.  That's a very intense, dedicated and compassionate undertaking for Vu's foster mom and Vu is very grateful for the love and care, as are we.  She initially weighed in at only 99 grams, but after a week weighed 140 grams.  Thanks to her foster parents, we knew that she certainly had the best chance possible.  Thanks, Kate and Jeff.  You are Vu's heroes (and ours, too).

On January 15, 2018, at twelve weeks of age, Vu was officially adopted by her foster parents where she'll be a permanent sibling of several pets, including some ex-DunRoamin' ones.  We are all grateful for the life that Vu now happily experiences.  We can't begin to thank everyone who had a hand in her new life, but most especially we thank her family for the wonders she'll now know - what a precious gift.

"Nascat" came to DunRoamin' on January 2, 2016 from the NBSPCA in Arthurette.  He had been found on the side of the road and displayed injuries.  He was born about January 2, 2012.  He had an injury to his tail, most probably resulting from it being caught in something and jerked very hard.

Nascat required his tail to be amputated.  He is now very well and is perfectly normal in every way, but he initially had to have his urine expressed from his body due to the fact that he was not able to pee on his own due to his injuries.  He is currently doing very well on his own - he hasn't needed any help since September - he's doing GREAT!!  He is a very affectionate little boy who is hoping for a caring person to give him the life he would like to experience.  

As you can see, Nascat is very handsome.  One of his favourite napping spots was in our mail tray!  He is happy, healthy, playful and loving and he loves to interact with his humans and feline friends as well.  He will give his complete love and devotion to anyone who is willing to give him a home.  He is a very sweet little boy who is grateful to have his health back and to have someone to love.  His very favourite thing to do is go for a run on his exercise wheel, although sometimes he just likes to take a break there!

On January 15, 2018, a lady and her young daughter attended DunRoamin' to see if anyone might like to join their family.  Nascat was right there to say, "Yes, please, MEEEEEE!!"  He immediately fell in love with the daughter and ingratiated himself completely to the entire family!  Now renamed Chip, for his love of stealing munchies, Nascat lives in Smithfield where he'll be the new best friend of two young girls.  Congratulations to all!  Send photos, Nascat!  We'll miss you very much!!

"Brenna" came to us on November 22, 2017 from Beechwood, NB along with her six kittens.  She had originally come to Beechwood with two kittens from a previous litter, but she was not spayed and soon had another litter of six for whom no one could care.  She was born about November 22, 2016.

Her kittens were born about October 31, 2017 and we've named them Coraline, Keera, Tarot, Kellas, Noir and Coal.  All were healthy.  They just needed a safe place to be and they definitely needed to be spayed and neutered to ensure they didn't contribute to the cycle of an ever-increasing number of unwanted and/or uncared-for cats, as had been Brenna's fate. 

We'd like to thank the young lady who fostered Brenna and her family of babies - we are grateful for the love and care they have learned! 

Brenna is a beautiful pewter gray and she is slightly cross-eyed.  She is gorgeous and has a wonderful, loving personality.  She is fully vaccinated and spayed and eager to go to a loving home.

On January 14, 2018, that's exactly what happened.  A very nice couple from New Bandon, NB, drove all the way to meet her.  She quieted immediately and settled comfortably into each of their arms in turn and we all knew this is exactly where she wants to be for the rest of her life.  She will have one other cat friend and the best family ever.  Congratulations, Brenna!

"Vimy" came to us on November 4, 2017 from Glassville where she was a stray kitten who had been pried from a dog's mouth when she entered it's territory, probably looking for assistance.  She sustained no open wounds as a result of her encounter, but definitely required medical attention for several other reasons.  Vimy was born about September 4, 2017.

Upon examination by her new vet at the Florenceville Veterinary Clinic, Vimy was found to be thin, weighing only 1.5 pounds, was mildly dehydrated, had ear mites, infection in both ears, an infection in her left eye and a polyp in her right ear with the possibility of another in her left ear.  She was very fortunate to have been brought for help.  She was treated for all her problems and her ears were monitored and medicated by her vet tech foster mother and as of January, 2018, her polyps are gone!  Vimy is vocal and loving, obviously grateful for the care and concern heaped abundantly upon her!  She lived with her foster mother, father and canine and feline foster brothers and sisters for almost two months and she thanks her foster family for their generosity, compassion and love.  Vimy is honoured to have been named by her foster father in honour of the veterans who have served Canada.  

On January 12, 2018, Vimy met a young lady from Burton who cried with joy when she realized that her dad had surprised her with this beautiful little girl as an early birthday present.  Her name is very appropriate, as she now lives in a military family who has recently visited Vimy Ridge in France and are honoured to keep her name.  Congratulations, everyone.  Write soon and send lots of photos, Vimy!

"Seth" came to DunRoamin' on November 16, 2017 from Wakefield where he had been hanging around a barn.  Although he had shelter and food, he was not neutered and was therefore contributing to a large number of babies being born.  A kind lady noticed also that he had a bad upper respiratory infection.  Upon examination by a vet, it was learned that Seth was in much worse condition than met the untrained eye. 

Seth had upper respiratory infection, sinusitis, he had many parasites, his eyes were red and his mouth was even redder.  His teeth were in terrible condition which must have caused him much pain.  Seth was placed on antibiotics and parasite medication to help with his problems.  He was neutered when healthy enough and all but four canine teeth were extracted, but he's still able to eat very well and he does love his food!  He is quickly becoming healthy with all the love and care extended to him.  He was born about November 10, 2015.

Seth thanks his rescuer for her help in getting him medical care, her generous donation to help pay for this care and her concern for all cats in the area, many of whom she has spayed and neutered of her own volition and at her own expense.  He and his friends are truly grateful.  Seth is extremely affectionate, loving and grateful.  He can be a bit of a pain with some other cats, but in general he gets along.

On January 12, 2018, Seth met a gentleman from Florenceville.  This gentleman was originally interested in another, but Seth made sure he had no choice:  he was going home with this man and that's all there was to it!  The carrier was placed on the floor, his new father told him, "Pile in!" and he got right down from his bed, walked into the carrier and laid down as if to say, "What's taking so long??  Let's go!!"  His new name is Ozzy, and the rest is history!  Congratulations, Ozzy!  Write soon and send lots of photos! 

"Nina" came back to us on December 11, 2017 from the Bath area where she had lived since being adopted in September, 2016 by a very nice gentleman.  Unfortunately, due to medical issues, he could no longer keep her.  As is our policy, Nina came back to us to find another home.  They will miss each other greatly.

Nina was born about April 28, 2014.  She and her siblings, Reddington, Keen, Spader and Diega had been found in a box on the side of the road in Lansdowne on June 2, 2014.  They were all very fortunate to find loving homes.

Nina is a beautiful grey tabby who has obviously been well loved and cared for in her previous home.  She is an affectionate and happy little girl and she's hoping to be welcomed by another family who will care for her as well as she has experienced in the past.  She's got lots to give back.  She loves kids and loves to get in a tub when water is running.  She also likes scratching posts, riding on your shoulder and being picked up and carried around.  She's never been all that keen on dogs, though.  Her favourite thing to do since she's been back with us is to go for a run on our exercise wheel.  She loves it!

On January 11, 2018, Nina was chosen by a lady in Bath (or rather, Nina chose her!) to be her newest family member.  She will have lots of kids to play with and she'll be lavished with affection daily.  She'll also get to cuddle and be carried around on shoulders - one of her favourite things.  Send lots of photos, Nina.  We'll miss you!  Congratulations on your new family!

"Liam" came back to us on July 15, 2017 from Fielding.  He was originally a stray from the Florenceville area who had no one to look after him.  He was born about January 8, 2005 and was adopted in July, 2008.

Liam had a ruptured abscess on his chin and a loose infected tooth.  Tests revealed a high blood sugar count which indicated diabetes so Liam currently takes a small injection of insulin twice daily.  He also eats a diabetic diet, which he loves.

Liam is a perfect little boy.  His sugar levels have settled and he's very comfortable with his meds - he has no problem taking his insulin at all!  He is quiet, loving and affectionate and he "chirps" when you talk to him - he loves to answer back!  His favourite place is on a human's lap or on his toasty warm window ledge.  He was very anxious to have a permanent home, but we have to warn any potential adopter - he's a real cuddler!

On January 10, 2018, Liam met a couple from Saint John who immediately fell in love with him, and vice versa.  They have had diabetic cats for the past six years and are very familiar with their requirements and are so happy to have him join their family.  It was meant to be, Liam.  The wait was well worth it.  Congratulations!  To make this event even more special, Liam's new friend, Slater (see below) got to join this wonderful family also!  Don't forget to write often -  we'll miss you, and so will the vet techs!  We'd all like to thank them for caring for and loving you so much over the past six months!  Stay in touch!! You're a very lucky boy!  This was meant to be!

"Slater" came to DunRoamin' on March 1, 2016 from the Bristol area.  Although he had good body condition, he had a cauliflower left ear, abrasions on his head, dandruff, ear mites and tapeworms.  He was prescribed medication, cleaned up, given a great diet and was soon feeling so much better.

Slater was originally timid and very standoffish, but he quickly became comfortable enough to meet us at his kennel door.  He can head butt and purr with the best of them, now that he's feeling so much better.  He was born about March 1, 2014 and was quickly displaying his ability to be a fine and loving young tomcat.  He was fostered with friends in Grand Falls where he was very grateful for the love, attention and companionship displayed to him by his human and feline foster family members.  He'd like to thank them profusely for all their love and assistance.

His foster parents have so very generously donated Slater's adoption fee - thank you!  He is so very handsome with his pewter gray fur!  He had his cauliflower ear removed in November, 2017 and sometimes requires ear drops, but he's very healthy and loving.  He was just waiting for that special person to come into his life . . .

. . . and on January 10, 2018, that's what happened.  We'd like to thank Slater's new family in Saint John for giving him such a wonderful and loving home.  We know he'll be the perfect companion for Sam and Kate, and to make this even more special, if at all possible, Slater's new friend Liam (see above) got to go along, too!  Thank you so much for giving these two special boys a family!  We'll be looking forward to hearing from all of you!

"Dizzy" came back to us on December 13, 2017 from the Holmesville area.  She had been adopted approximately eleven months earlier but had started defecating outside the litter box.  She was immediately examined by her new vet and was placed back on her special diet.  She must eat Royal Canin Urinary S/O which solved the problem in no time at all. 

Dizzy is a beautiful little girl who was born about May 25, 2011.  She and 15 friends had originally been rescued from a shed near Hartland in 2011 where they were closed in with no food or water.  She is very friendly and affectionate.  Dizzy is 100% healthy and happy, now that she's back on her diet.  If she eats this food only, she'll always be healthy!

On January 9, 2018, Dizzy was introduced to a very nice lady from Woodstock who was looking for a friend for her cat, another ex-DunRoamin' stray.  We are very grateful to have Dizzy join your household.  Thank you so much for allowing our strays to be part of your family, and thank you for your ongoing and generous support!

"Hazard" came to DunRoamin' on November 14, 2017 from Glassville.  He and several siblings had been found in a box on a porch and he was not in good shape.  He had a bad upper respiratory infection, discharge from his eyes and nose, fleas and a fractured femur.  Hazard was born about August 10, 2017, so was just a baby.  It must have been terrible for him . . . but of course, he's happy to be warm, pain-free, fed, safe and loved now that he's here.

Hazard's injury was unique.  His knee had been broken and the lower bone had attached itself to the top bone and healed there, resulting in one bone sticking out which made his right hind leg shorter than the others.  He underwent medical care and three weeks of cage rest before being re-x-rayed which revealed that his leg is doing just fine!  No surgery for him!  We'll always monitor him for pain or limping in the future to be on the safe side, as will his adopter, but he's just GREAT! 

In the meantime, Hazard waited patiently for a home and family.  He's a really sweet little boy and whatever he needs, he'll get!  He's full of energy and he's full of love!  And cuteness!  And playfulness, and goodness, and affection, and . . .

. . . on January 8, 2018, he got his best wish when a young lady from Perth-Andover asked him to join her family.  Congratulations, Hazard!  Have a wonderful life!  Don't forget to send us lots of pictures of you and your new family!

Blanc is completely white and she has long hair.  She is gorgeous and we think she's going to have more personality than all her siblings, if this photo tells a true story!  She and her siblings couldn't wait to join families, and . . .

. . . on January 6, 2018, Blanc went to live with her new family in Harvey which includes other pets.  We are looking forward to photos to see how absolutely gorgeous you and your siblings will become!  Congratulations, Blanc!!

"McCrae" came to us on November 7, 2017 from the Woodstock area where he was living in a garage.  When it was learned he was sick, he was brought for help, along with his friend Normandy who, sadly, did not survive, despite the best of medical attention.  McCrae was born about September 19, 2017.  He was relatively healthy, but had no one to look after him and it's cold, wet and lonely out there if you're only a baby.  Even if you're not!

As of November 13, 2017, McCrae was looking a little better and was eating a bit on his own.  He still had a ways to go, but with the love and care he got, it was much easier than he thought!   He's got everything he needs:  good food, good medical care and good friends. 

McCrae is honoured to have been named after Col John McCrae, a field surgeon in the Canadian Artillery during World War I.  Col McCrae, who was born on November 30, 1872 in Guelph, Ontario, is well remembered as the author of "In Flanders Fields," the world's most famous war memorial poem.

On January 6, 2018, McCrae finally made the trek to his new home in Waasis where he joins a family with two young girls who love him already!  We'll be looking forward to photos, McCrae.  Be a good boy - we'll miss you!!

"Somme" came to DunRoamin' along with her brother, Dunkirk, and two sisters, Caen and Ypres, on the morning of November 9, 2017 from Knowlesville.  Their mom, a feral stray, had been struck and killed by a car the previous day and a lady had found the four kittens in a box in her unheated shed.  With no mom to feed them or keep them warm, they needed help.  All four were almost indistinguishable beautiful grey tabbies.

Somme was born about September 28, 2017.  She and her brother Dunkirk and sisters, Ypres and Caen were fostered by a very kind and generous supporter whom we thank profusely.  They soon began eating on their own and with love and care, flourished and became healthy.  Somme appeared to be the most outgoing of her siblings - she would sit and stare at her foster mother until she patted her!  She is more independent than her siblings and wants cuddles when she wants them.  She makes a very cute trilling noise as she runs and plays!

Somme is honoured to be named in memory of the many heroes of the battle of Somme during World War I.

On January 6, 2018, Somme was elated to go to her new home in Fredericton where she'll have the perfect home and family.  Please send lots of photos, Somme!  Have a wonderful life!

"Frostine" came to us on November 24, 2017 from Bath where she was found in a box in the rafters of a garage.  Her mom, Lotus, had been rescued two days earlier and when her rescuer realized she still might have kittens, went looking for these little ones.  Frostine and her siblings, Snowdon, Slippy, Blanc, Sleet and Hail were born about October 27, 2017.  When found, they were living (and had probably been born) in a box in the rafters of a garage.  They had been without their mom to keep them warm, feed them, or stimulate them to pee and poop for at least two days, so they really needed help.  They had fleas which were treated.

Frostine is mostly white, but she has four little swatches of grey fur on the top of her head.  She is SOOOO cute!  She and her siblings could hardly wait to be ready to go to homes in the new year. 

On January 6, 2018, Frostine was elated to finally be ready to go to her new home in Fredericton.  Her adopted family is SO excited to have her, and she'll join a family that already has feline members.  Congratulations, Frostine!  Send pictures soon!

"Bowie" came back to DunRoamin' on December 22, 2017 from the Fredericton area where he had been adopted two months previously.  He had been doing very well, but had eventually started to become a bit too aggressive with the small dog who lived there.  Bowie was born about July 29, 2015.

Bowie was originally diagnosed with a condition which requires him to eat Urinary S/O food only.  This is nothing serious at all - he just requires a certain diet to ensure his ureter does not become blocked and he loves his S/O food.  Bowie was also diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye.  He was treated for that and he's just fine.  He also had an inflamed bladder wall, but had no bladder stones, which is a good thing.  He was treated with fluids, pain medication and antibiotics, as well as supplements to soothe his bladder and as long as he eats his prescription food, he's perfect!  He hopes to spend the rest of his life in a family being warm, safe and loved.  Who doesn't deserve that??  

On January 3, 2018, Bowie got exactly what he deserves!  A young lady whom he had met previously returned to confirm that she wanted him to live with her forever!  And as an added bonus, Waffles will join Bowie in a couple of weeks!  Both cats eat Urinary S/O food and are extremely happy to have a loving family.  They will live in Moncton.  Congratulations!!

"Deja" came to us on October 23, 2017 from Rosedale where the NB SPCA picked her up after she had been abandoned by her family to fend for herself.  She is a beautiful, friendly little girl who had a mild external ear infection, gingivitis and moderate stomatitis, all of which were soon rectified with steroids and antibiotics and she's now 100% healthy.   She was born about October 23, 2015.

Deja was also pregnant and her three beautiful baby kittens arrived on October 24, 2017.  Sadly, daughters Valla and Regan survived only a few minutes.  You can read about them on our Pet Memorials page.  Her third kitten, Vu, was fortunate to have the medical care of a very dedicated veterinary technician and thrived as a result.

Deja lived with a dozen other cats and got along well with them all.  Her dream was that one day she would have a loving home with lots of family and lots of attention.

On January 2, 2018, Deja's dream came true when she met a family from Florenceville.  She loved the young people who were so anxious to have a cat to join their Havenese dog who missed having a cat in their home.  Deja is now ecstatic to know that she'll have a family to love forever!  Congratulations, Deja!  Happy New Year!!
